Field conditions at Ohio Stadium

I have played on all three surfaces, and field turf rules. It is soft on your knees and when you fall on it, and unlike grass it is consistent. It has about 2-4" of peletized rubber under a psudo grass and is almost the perfect surface to play on.

The only beef I have is that it can be a bit slick when it is misty out. In the rain it is quite good and drains like a mo-fo.

If I am JT it is a no-brainer.

I just checked the Radar out of Cincy. Looks like most of the rain is staying south of Cbus for now. "I don't think the hard stuff will come down for quite some time!"

Saw on the news here is cbus a second ago...said it wshould hit real bad about the time of kickoff

Sometimes the give, or inconsistency, that grass affords is a good thing. I'll never forget dislocating my right ankle after my foot planted in field turf and my leg went in the opposite direction because of a hit.

Quit being such a candy ass. Put some tape on it and get on out there. :wink2:

I played on FieldTurf at a OSU football camp in 7 on 7's a couple years ago. It sucked. You fall on that crap, and your in for some serious rug burn, among other problems.

The only thing that I thought was worse to play on, was that 20+ year old AstroTurf that Woody Hayes Athletic Center has. No padding, you fall on that it feels like concrete.

If you don't have wholes in your cleats so they can breathe, it gets your feet real hot!!!

Yea I wasn't wearing very good cleats. They were molded rubber cleats, and not the detachable cleat kind. I just picked up a pair for the camp, cost about $35. They aren't very comfortable and yea they did get hot on that turf.

I still use them. Although I wanna pick up a pair that has detachable cleats and are better on my feet.

I enjoyed playing on the field turf at Fawcett. There wasn't a single time I slipped and it was easy to make solid cuts. The turf did burn the elbows a bit when I was tackled on it but that wouldn't have been a problem if I would have remembered my turf sleeves. I really don't see to many ways that OSU doesn't go with field turf next year after seeing the game yesterday and last week.
