Field conditions at Ohio Stadium

I have to admit, after seeing the field yesterday that I am not big fan of it.
While its nice to see solid green out there, our colors are not red and white.
They really dropped the ball there.
But it looks fast and its nice to not see clumps of grass missing everywhere.

The sideline paint is grey, IIRC... which is more surface area than the endzone lettering. The surrounding grey tarmac really brings the grey back though.

I was critical of the endzone designs (hence my redo mockups), but that tarmac is a much biggre boost to the overall look imo.

Seeing it in person for the first time, the field isn't as over the top green as it looks on TV.

The grey in whats left of the track really helps.

I still want the end zone logos to be grey instead of white. I honestly don't understand why they aren't. Or even better one grey background with red letters and one red with grey.

Same shit with the jerseys, get rid of the white stripes on the arm and make them grey. Its got nothing to do with being old school or resisting change. Red and white just doesn't fucking look right. Our colors are Scarlet and Grey. What the fuck is so difficult about this?

Attended the Akron game, and compared to the condition of the field last year, I thought it looked amazing. I'll be interested to see how it holds up. I have to admit, that it was a bit strange seeing the black rubber pellets bounce up off the field now and then. The colors were unusually vibrant, almost "day-glo" like someone posted earlier.

I think that would look stupid with the helmet stripe the way it is.

I've been to both games and the field looked better at the second game than at the first, as expected. The black pellets seemed to have settled and were much less noticeable.

The thing that concerned me about the field was the amount of slipping that took place when it rained. Of course, some slipping is to be expected, but they were playing at both ends of the field while it was wet, yet the slipping all seemed to take place in one area - inside the 20-yard line in the closed end. It caused Boeckman to slip for the only sack they gave up, caused a receiver to fall on one of the INTs and also caused a few other falls from what I remember. Maybe it was just coincidence though.

The field looked A LOT better than last week in person.

No black streaks on the field from the pellets.

The people sitting next to us went down on the field to present a scholarship or something and said the field feels awesome under your feet, very cushiony.

We didn't have black-gray-red-gray-black stripes on the sleeves. The stripe matches the helmet stripe now, and it would look foolish if it didn't.

Gotcha.

I'm still hoping for a return to the grey and white stripes on the sleeves, wasn't thinking of it matching the helmet stripe.

I remember the QB slip, feet right out from under him trying to set up. In a misty, light rain, the carpet can be slippery. It will probably get less so as it wears a little.

First caller this afternoon for JT's call-in show on 1460TheFan seriously asked Coach if he could use his leverage at the University to change the color of the end zones, because the caller thought we should be using gray paint for the names in the end zones rather than white, because that's how it always looks at the Fiesta Bowl, and it's a good look. Funnily enough, JT said that that was the plan, but when his staff met with the grounds crew and university officials, they discovered that the gray paint they had received for the turf turned out to be too dark (like a charcoal color) and not the official gray the University uses, so they voted to just go ahead and use the white paint, since they had plenty of it.
