FB/LB Zach Boren (Official Thread)

Guys who prefer defense have a different approach to the game, mentally.

I, for one, like to see that Ohio State's starting fullback has that mentality. Having a contact-seeking missile leading our tailbacks is a good thing.

As for whether he'll move back to defense, we need not complicate this. Ohio State has better options at LB & DE, and that will likely be the case for the remainder of Zach's time along the banks of the Olentangy. If he remains the Buckeyes' best option at fullback during that time, then the job is in good hands.

Zach will be our four-year starter at fullback, and will likely end up as one of the best overall OSU fullbacks ever. No H-back. No tailback. No linebacker. No defensive end. Straight-up fullback. Period.

Is there anybody anywhere that loves to put on a football helmet and play the game more that Z Boren? You can tell he just has a special zest and love for the game. A real throwback kind of guy. I love it.

When he committed to the Buckeyes I remember a lot of questions about where he would fit in and how he would get on the field...:)

Ladies and gents...the kid is just a football player...period. Those types find a way. I really like this kid, and his brother ain't so bad either. :)

Agreed!!! Remember when people were actually upset when he got offered, and even more so when he accepted. One of my favorite players on the team believe it or not!!!

Absolutely. I still remember doing a film analysis...very limited, would be a FB, but a grinder. He was one of those kids that you think about what you might lose without an offer. Zach has done very well and looked like Nicky Sualua out there today.

He is a headbuster and I love that.

I hate to admit it but I was in this group. He was recruited as a linebacker though and I didn't think he would hack it at that position. As a fullback he might be a big part of this offense. He impresses me every time he gets the ball, especially today when he jumped over a defender to get a first down (I think). I'm going to start yelling, "Cannonball coming!" when he gets the ball.
