I prefer music-only themes. Rockford Files, Hill Street Blues, Magnum P.I., etc.

Greatest American Hero is definitely the best of all the themes with words, although I always liked the Touched By an Angel theme too.

Well, Happy Days actually used a #1 hit for the first 2 or 3 years of that show - "Rock Around the Clock" by Bill Haley and the Comets, but doesn't count if it has to be created solely for the show.

Pink Panther cartoons had the classic Mancini score as well.

Hawaii Five-O is probably as good as anything else, in my book. I always liked the Barney Miller theme too because of the bass riff.
Also WKRP. "and now more music and less Nessman"

I can't believe nobody(that i know of) has said Family Guy theme song, sure it may not be old but its a good theme song.


Not really one of my top favorites, but the Jeopardy theme song is defiantly famous.
