I have to add El Coyote in Anderson Twp. Generous size, slightly crunchy exterior, juice in the middle and not overcooked. American cheese and kaiser roll are top-notch.

That said, there are three things I've discovered are done really well in the DC metro area: Ethiopian, Peruvian chicken, and burger joints. You know Five Guys started here, but here are two others I've had good luck with:
Good Stuff Eatery
This place is located on Penn Ave right near the Capitol. The burgers are good but too small. However, they have perhaps the best milk shakes I've ever had, outstanding fries, and a gourmet mayo bar. It's more on the fast food side of burger making, so it's also a plus that you can get a beer with your burger at this place.
Ray's Hell Burger
This place is located out in Arlington, but worth the commute. The burgers are enormous, well-cooked, and interesting. Best burger I've had in DC so far. If you like spicy burgers, they do 'em right. The fries leave a lot to be desired, but other sides, like the Mac 'n' Cheese, are solid. Plus they put Cholula on the table! This place is more of a sit joint, so you can have a craft beer with your burger.
President Obama takes Dmitry Medvedev to dinner at Ray's Hell Burger
Lancaster is getting a Five Guys, and they're building it on 33 adjacent to my property line, which pretty much means there is going to be a Five Guys in my backyard.
Yes, sacrilege.I've always preferred Five Guys to In-N-Out. I know that's sacrilege, and both are great, but I prefer the 'meatier' option, sesame seed bun, and variable options. Plus, the fries are better to me.
Agreed - B-Spot is overrated. For gourmet burgers in NEO, Flip Side (Hudson, Chagrin Falls) is better, as is The Rail (Summit Mall in Akron).I've got a Michael Symon's B-Spot down the street from me; not a huge fan of that place, at all.
They do steam the burgers, which I do not like. Not worth the wait (similar to Thurmans in Columbus).in Richfield, OH is a place called Whitey's Booze-N-Burgers.....best burger to me. They steam them (I think) and are only open for dinner so it's usually a packed house.

Going in that new strip mall they are building close to the "newish" Jimmy Johns?Lancaster is getting a Five Guys, and they're building it on 33 adjacent to my property line, which pretty much means there is going to be a Five Guys in my backyard.
