I hate to go all international on what I consider to be an American delicacy, but the fucking Kiwis are doing it right in Queenstown, New Zealand. I just had a half pound cheeseburger on a massive bun with lettuce, tomato, onion, bacon, BBQ sauce and aioli at a joint called Fergberger, and it was fucking outstanding. All of their beef here is grass fed, and it shows. One of the very best burgers I've ever had. If they had fresh jalapenos to put on that thing, I'd be tempted to rate it #1. Also, all you Five Guys detractors: pleeeease. It's great stuff; you must be doing it wrong! Now, Fergberger pics:

To give you an idea of the size of these burgers:

Fergburger's fries could use some improvement, though.

Re- Shanes Rib Shack burger, I saw it and wanted it, but the family wanted to go to Noodles instead.... We did go to Barleys Smokehouse last night and they have something similar but it's Barleys so it's probably better. (their pulled pork and brisket is awfully good) and the fact that thier beer is outstanding makes it a no brainer.

I like Barleys Smokehouse Pile It On Texas Burger: We Pile This All American Burger Large With Cheddar Cheese, smoked Bacon, Onion Strings And Tangy Texas Smokedip barbecue Sauce.

Look. I'm completely sorry, but there is just no goddamn way that Smashburger is as solid as 5 Guys. Too salty, not as many menu options (and certainly the menu options that are available aren't as fluid), and, while their veggie fries are interesting, neither they nor their ordinary fries are as good as 5 Guys.' Just not as good.

I too vote for Graffiti over 5 Guys. Also a big fan of Terry's Turf Club in Cincinnati, Thurman's in Columbus and Burger Joint in NYC.

This may sound weird but the AM/PM burgers are surprisingly good. I would never take one over Graffiti or Thurman's but since we have a BP next door they are good on the run.

I have good memories of Brown bag burger from lunch on my wedding day. I need to go to 5 Guys sometime and see how I like it. I've found most of the gourmet burger places overpriced and underwhelming.

Bumping this thread for Todd Blackledge, who took his "Todd's Taste of the Town" to Thurman's for the OSU/Miami game.

The comments thread for the in-game 3:30 - 8:00 PM games over at EDSBS were golden:

Taste of the Town

a) Love Blackledge
b) Love the shot of the Ohioans waiting for food even more.

SWEET MERCIFUL CRAP

That is a burger.

So who wants to bet the O/U on Todd Blackledge developing colon cancer

I say 4 years?

Sorry, but that shit looked DELICIOUS.
