Favorite Place to get a Burger?

LJB, had a California burger at Rafters in Amherst last night before the UMASS/Northeastern hockey game. I'd give it a 3/5, the guacamole made the burger. Any suggestions out that way?
The place that I used to frequent - JB's in downtown Amherst - is long gone.

Bub's BBQ (near UMass) has a burger that's decent, but they are more known for their barbecue. It's worth a visit.

It's called the Wollensky's Butcher Burger and comes with cheese, bacon, LTO, and a special sauce, together with a side of fries. It's expensive, but worth it.

They also have a cajun gorgonzola burger, which I have not tried.
Slightly off-/topic, but S&W is one of my personal favorites in terms of restaurants, period. Just ate there last weekend. If anyone ever stops in, my favorite is the 24 oz Cajun marinated ribeye w/their in-house onion rings. Life changing event. I have a pic of it on my phone I should upload. It's pic worthy.

I've heard the Butcher Burger is one-of-a-kind. The entire menu there is fantastic.

Thanks. I Googled it and apparently it is the only burger on the menu and costs $13, or such was the case a few years ago when the review was written by burgerista

Here's a link to the bar menu: Smith & Wollensky. I think that it is current. There are no prices listed (they probably vary by location), but the burger is at least $13. But it does come with fries and cole slaw.

There's a place in Columbus (down on N. High St./Short North) called Bodega. It's more bar than restaurant, and I'm told it has a bit of a hipster crowd, but they have a bad ass in the kitchen named Marcus Meacham. He was given creative reign at Bodega, and one of the things he rolled out was the Bombay burger.

I went to Bodega 3-4 times a week for happy hour since the most amazing beer in the world is served there regularly and at half price. The owner (Collin) is a friend of mine and always recommended the burger. Being the hipster crowd that it is (and seriously, it is), I figured it would not be that great. I mean, I am pretty sure the fries are ethically treated in the name of humanity.

Now I am very bummed that I missed on this. Best burger I had in Columbus was Thurmans and I know that is a popular answer but it is true.

BUT the best burger in Ohio I have had is a place called Crabill's in Urbana, Ohio. Link . Looks like White Castle but destroys them. Sitting room is about 8-10 people but even if there is no room to sit down, get that brown bag to go. Amazeballs.

Well convince your friend to make sure the Bombay makes the new menu! I don't know that it won't be, but the last time Jo went there the bartender told her the whole thing (decor and menu) was to be a reboot. Collin has a gem in Meacham.

Oh and if you ever somehow end up in Northern Idaho, the best burger BY FAR in the state is the Effie Burger at Effie Tavern. It seems like a novelty at first glance because it is so big, but it is amazing. Just get the half burger (which is enough to split) and prepare yourself. Buns are made locally and shipped there.

Yeah I think the whole "reboot" is partly associated with his new brewery and trying to establish a new identity. Either way, I will make my case for the Bombay Burger so I can try it the next time I get back to Columbus.

Slightly off topic, but do they have plans to get more room in there? I like the bar, but I hate how crowded it gets so I just never go. It's never not been way too crowded.

Also, I really want to eat a burger now. But it's 11:18 and I'm at my house, and drunk. Bad combination of things if I want a burger.

Try Eddie Merlot's and get back to me on this.
Been too Eddie's as well.....very, very solid place to eat, no question - really enjoy it there. Some of the best scallops I've ever had, especially for a Midwestern restaurant. I personally prefer S&W. Just my personal taste. I appreciate the atmosphere at S&W a lot, not that Eddie's is "stuffy" per se, but I feel like at S&W you find ppl wearing anything from suite and tie's to flannel and jeans. I'm simple. Lol

First off, I really want a burger too and I want to kick my own ass for contributing to this thread...I was so close to having a semblance of a diet. Second, yes there is supposed to be more room...how much I'm not sure. Have you ever made it in around 4-5ish on the weekdays? I used to go right after work for happy hour quite often and was always seated immediately. Around 6-7 it would be packed out the door. Just a tip from personal experience.
