Favorite Horror Movies

If it counts as "horror", "The Hitcher".

Also, "A Nightmare on Elm Street": People tend to forget that the original was much straighter (i.e., very little comic relief) than the sequels. The scene where Freddy's at the end of the street and his arms are insanely long still gives me the willies.

Still so much fun to watch after all these years.
The cast also includes Bela Lugosi as Count Dracula and Lon Chaney Jr. as the wolfman.

Great stuff !!

Audition was really good, but I don't know if scary is the word I would use. Effed up is more like it. But if you are going to count that you may as well add Oldboy or Battle Royale.

Suspiria got a mention or two. I had a roommate in school who thought it was the scariest thing ever. (me not so much)

I do think there is a difference between Horror and Scary movies. Rear Window is scary, Evil Dead II is a horror movie.(and a great one)

Cronenburg has some good ones like Scanners, the Brood, Videodrome and one of the better Steven King adaptions in the Dead Zone.

Two movies that are just frightening for another reason-

About Schmidt (Kathy Bates in a hot tub makes me want to power wash my eyeballs) and Exit to Eden (because Rosie O Donnel should never be viewed in that way)

Evil Dead I-2, Army of Darkness. Watch Evil Dead I for the horror, a must see. Watch Army of Darkness for the comedy.

Night of the Living Dead is a great one, but young children should definitly not sneak down in the middle of the night to watch it :) Leaves bad dreams to this day
