I never understood the attraction of South Park. How many fat, poop, and Jew jokes can they make before people get tired of it? Also, the voices make me want to guillotine my ears off. I'm supposed to be impressed because they made fun of Scientology and Tom Cruise? Please, that's like hitting a golf ball into the ocean.

Family Guy is great because it doesn't care about plot. Why? Because anyone watching an animated slapstick sitcom should care as much about storyline as a Jenna Jameson fanatic. It's about the jokes, not the plot. The out-of-context bits that Family Guys feasts on makes the show what it is.

If I want a good plot line, I watch an episode of Law and Order, 24, or the Sopranos. If I want the funny, I watch Family Guy or Boston Legal.

You gotta' be shitting me. What's so sophisticated about Family Guy? Family Guy is so stupid it's funny. South Park seems to be on the decline but it's still better than Family Guy. Neither show is sophisticated.

maybe if I didn't get tired of the awful animations, nearly intelliglble voices, and constant swearing... the 'socially relevant' jokes would be a bigger selling point.

family guy is far from sophisticated, but it's use of irony and randomness is quite clever at times.

Oh, I agree with this, its just that I have never thought it was anything else but that.

The brilliance of Family Guy is the randomness and juxtapositioning of the jokes and pop cultural references. Someone said it is like Dadaism, which is true, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. When Dadaism is done very well, it is brilliant. When it is done poorly, it is horrible. There is no middle ground. Hence why some Family Guy episodes appear to be the best television ever while other ones are flat and dumb.

It was a re-run. But it's pretty good.
I get annoyed sometimes at their right-wing-bashing, but it's still a good show.
