I've heard some complaints that OA is too short. I have yet to download it yet, I was waiting till I felt better before I felt like playing a game.

Is it worth the $10?

it was really short but added a few cool things to the game, you get some cool new power armor, a stealth suit that kicks ass and a new perk that adds +1 to every skill. However, I have beaten the game like 4 times and explored about everywhere I can, so meh.

You know, the more I think about it, the more disappointed I am in the expansion. Really, it didn't add anything to the story, the plot to make the simulation happen is really weak and overall, the mission was really weak.

I can't wait, I just purchased a new pc and dell gave me 2 free games, I decided to forego the two and just get the collectors edition of Fallout 3 because I wanted the bobblehead, there's a ton of [censored]ing addons already.
Yeah, I tried to keep up with them, but its pretty hard. Theres half a billion mods people have done just to hack/retexture weapons, most of them are garbage though and clutter up the internetz. Someone did a mod that replaces all the Wasteland roaming music (Not the radio stations) with music from the Good, the Bad, and the ugly. Pretty awesome, imo, it does have a Spaghetti Western kind of feel, aside from the fact that its, you know, in the future.

Theres a few other decent mods out there. You can turn off decay for your rare weapons that don't have easy repair items, like the Alien Blaster or the special Power Armor. Another workaround is to make it so certain vendors can repair items to 100%, or mods that allow you to repair all items with a workbench. Theres a bunch of custom houses out there now, some custom missions and party members, lots of insane stuff. Also, if you don't have OA downloaded, there are mods to increase your level cap and allow you to continue playing after the ending.

Yeah, most aren't really anything special, some I noticed are just plain stupid, give storage space to dogbite, uhm? wtf? But I noticed a few that people really thought out, like adding some perks, one I noticed added a three stage perk for robot repair so you could fix robots and take them around with you, another that made me laugh was turning some of the various females in the game into prostitutes. Another that actually had me interested someone created 8 boss mobs for various areas.

As with anything, everyone tries to change things they don't like and/or make sure everyone is naked, but honestly, that's going to happen with any game, but there's always a few people that will really take it and do something crazy with it.

So far the mods that have really intrigued me have been adding new quests, map zones or perks, it's always interesting to see what someone else would add to a game, other than naked people :)

Are you supposed to be able to get into the addon without beating the game? I played it last night and wasn't very impressed. I got all the way to the Chinese Compound and then died. The last save point was from when I walked into the compound, after reloading the game froze. Characters kept running in and fighting and what not, but I was left hovering above the ground and unable to do anything. The last save point before that was from destroying the big guns. So instead of doing it all over I decided to quit.

Yes, in fact it's the easiest way to get your power armor training, it gives it to you automatically. If you can't pass the speech check, the last guy is annoying, be prepared to run around and keep shooting him, my speech was 100 so he said he was pissed, I said dude you're fucked, he said "you're right, I am sorry, you won't take me alive" and killed himself, it was weak. The second time I just decided to bypass the speech check, and just kill him, but it took a while, guys a super healthy douchebag, probably drinks a lot of protein shakes and has great abs.

Oh really?

Yes, really.

Probably the best video game ever....and that's saying something. I've beaten FF7, a bunch of the Zeldas...all kinds of sports games, all the Halo series...(the first Halo is still up there to me)...and Fallout 3 is fucking sick.

Is this game why you've disappeared as well?

Ya, this game is great. So many things going on. I guess you have to strategize, I keep running out of ammo, and I need to find new routes to other places. I'm hooked though, I'm half way to level 6 though, and the VATS system is awesome!

I've been doing a lot of roaming in this game and not doing quests. Is it possible to find your dad without doing the quest in order? I never once explored the Jefferson building, but I found Vault 112 and did the simulation. Finally got my damn power armor training too.

Partially.

I'm level 15. Deathclaws are heartless cocksucking bastards. So far, the combat shotgun is my favorite weapon. I like to get up close and personal when killing.

It took me nearly an hour to find the Gunny Sgt at the Citadel. I had no idea what the baily was.

I wen to Evergreen...uh...compound or whatever, killed all the raiders, decided to try out the missle launcher on the generator keeping the fence electrified around the behemoth. Bad idea. That fucker.
