No, I know they aren't kidding. And that's why I am laughing.

Different strokes for different folks. These people don't know me, yet they make all sorts of assumptions about me and my relationship based on them and what THEY would do.

Suffice it to say, I am perfectly happy with my relationship. Janelle is Asian and was raised in a different manner, so there are some things that are different about her than about me. She is very accepting of some things about me that other girls wouldn't be, so I don't think it's a big deal to keep from being arrested to keep her happy.

But if you want to ridicule me for it, go right ahead.

Hmm. You know, I keep trying to reason this out, but it just doesn't work. I don't buy the whole grad school at OSU thing, and I don't buy the whole Janelle thing. I think Ex is nothing but a 9 year old kid at the public library. I mean, these arguments don't even make sense. Seriously - Janelle is Asian, so that's why you can't kick somebody's ass that spit in her face? If her name is Janelle, she obviously isn't all that Asian, and I don't care who you are, if somebody spits in a loved one's face, you "fix" the problem. End of story. Somehow, I don't think you ever even went to this game, you just made up yet another story...

Janelle is half-Asian, but was raised in Hawaii, where pretty much her entire school was Asian. Her middle names are Jun Sunai if that helps you understand. Hell, I would venture to guess that you know next to nothing about Asian people, as most Asian people in Hawaii tend to have highly Americanized yet old names. She went to school with people named Bertram, Ernie, and several named Janice.

If being told that she is Asian isn't enough for you to understand, then you obviously haven't ever dated an Asian woman.

Asian women are taught when they are very young to keep from making a scene. The whole death before dishonor thing. She gave me a hard time about wearing my OSU hat at UM because she was embarrassed. I didn't give in on that, I wanted to see what would happen. Again, for my thesis.

I did "fix" the problem, I got the guy booted. Sorry, she told me that she didn't want me to get arrested, and I kinda agreed with her. Excuse me for having the sense to value my life and career a little more than beating the shit out of some drunk kid and having to go back to Minneapolis to settle it in court after being arrested. The cops and security visited our section several times, and it was clear they were keeping an eye on the situation. I would have pounded the kid in the head a few times, thrown him down the stairs, fought off his buddies and then been arrested.

Beyond that, you can kiss my ass.

Your characterization of Asians is fairly accurate, especially for those in Hawaii, but the "death before dishonor" thing is a tad exaggerated. It's more of the laid back attitude as a whole here...however, you don't want to fuck with folks from Hawaii too much either, because they will get in your ass if it's warranted. I think her saying that if you hit him then you'll lose her was out of line, regardless of her upbringing. And if your fairly stereotypical claim of "Asian women are taught when they are very young to keep from making a scene" is true, then that would suggest that they are fairly submissive and thus Janelle would not have gave you such a harsh and on-the-spot ultimatum. Trust me, many of today's women from Hawaii are far from meek and submissive, and will tell you to "Fuck off" if you provoke them. Actually, if your girlfriend is half Asian and is named Janelle, I would guess she is part Filipino, and they normally don't take any shit, male or female.

Janelle is half Japanese. Apparently, the Big Island is more Japanese than most of the other islands. I don't know, I have never been there.

Yes, Janelle is very submissive. With everyone but me. I am dominant with everyone but her. I am her outlet, she is my respite. Our relationship works. My mom stopped asking me to do chores when I was 12 because I stopped listening. I don't ever do anything unless I have a good reason to. Yet, Janelle is the only person who has ever been able to get me to do anything. I love her. If there's something I can do to make her happy, I want to do it. Her smile lights my life, and that means more to me than the satisfaction that comes from sending some shithead to the hospital.

I know full well that she couldn't dump me. I would have to do something major. Getting arrested for defending her, even with her parents being in town (and paying for our hotel), I think I would have gotten away with it.

She talked sense into me and kept me from having a year's worth of legal hassles and a lifetime of explaining just to beat the crap out of a drunk kid. You guys may have a problem with that, but I don't. To each his or her own.

You initially made it sound like she was in your face about not kicking that guy's ass. If she calmly persuaded you to chill out, then that's a different story (but still using the threat of breaking up with you, even if she knew that you knew she probably wouldn't, was not cool). But, if that's your kind of sandwich, then here's the mustard...

A problem I have with BP...

Well, while I am apparently in the doghouse (permanently, it would seem), I guess now is as good a time as any to voice a complaint.

At the top of your screen, you will see a message that reads "The Buckeyes are 2-0, and there are only 65 days until we play scUM."

Additionally, I have seen several posts where people say that they "can't wait" to play UM, and I think I even saw someone say that they wish that the game would just get here already.

I don't get this mentality. Yes, I am very much looking forward to the OSU-UM game. I think I have more vested in it than most of you do, I may actually watch it in Ann Arbor, wearing my OSU jersey (I think I am going to custom order a Jack Tatum jersey, since Tatum is my all-time favorite Buckeye...players don't come any more badass than Tatum, and I can't think of a Buckeye jersey that would be any more badass than a Tatum).

But one thing my dad taught me before he died was never to wish your days away. Enjoy every second of your life while it's here.

I live by that concept as much as possible, and I apply it to football as well. All spring and summer, I was just dying for some college football, and I would have settled for Louisiana Tech vs. Idaho. I am going to enjoy every game this season.

I am looking forward to the UM game just as much as the next guy, but I want to see the OSU-NCState game. UM can wait.

To countdown to the UM game means that there are just 65 days left in the college football season, 65 days left until the only thing to look forward to are the bowl games and the long offseason. Screw that, bring on NC State!
