ESPN (A bunch of Death-Spiraling maroons)

That's pretty much my (limited) experience with the rag.

Hey look big shiny pictures with no actual content. Woo hoo.
They aren't even good photos, which is a remarkable level of failure given the resources, technology and volume at their disposal.

Any Buckeye fan with a subscription to that rag really needs to drop it. I'm pleased to be able to say that I've never purchased a single copy.

I bought or subscribed to every issue until this one:

It was actually a decent magazine at first. They at least tried to differentiate themselves from SI and The Sporting News - it was hit or miss, but the hits were worth paying attention to at first.

Had I been a subscriber, that issue would have made me cancel as well. I think I read that article online. It's hard to believe that was almost 9 years ago.

Different strokes & all that. I was a TSN subscriber & loved the wealth of actual information & stats it provided Picking up ESPNMag was literally left me wondering 'where in the hell are the actual articles?!'.

In retrospect that was when I really started to realize how much more style than substance ESPN was/is.

I was in high school when ESPN Magazine first came out. I also grew up without cable TV so at the time that was my only connection to ESPN. Maybe that explains it a little bit from my side of things. Before that, as a kid, I had subscribed to both SI and The Sporting News and they seemed a little stale by comparison.

FWIW, I vaguely recall The Sporting News running an issue similar to this new one from ESPN. Back when I subscribed (as a kid) TSN devoted an issue to St. Louis being the greatest sports town on the face of the earth. They were not without their own biases apparently.

I joined a fantasy football league that was hosted on ESPN years ago, and for some reason they have been sending me their magazine ever since. I cannot remember the last time I even looked at one - they go straight into the recycle bin. I glanced through the first few I received and that was enough. What a waste of paper.

In light of the recent asinine decision by the Ohio Supreme court, the teacher said to go to the blackboard and write this until I got it out of my system....

Unless I misread the article, the Ohio Supreme Court had OSU give them, and not ESP!N, copies of the records to review.

Those are elected officials too, and if they have any desire to keep their positions then all this means is they're probably one step away from telling ESPN's lawyers to go pound sand.
