Taking a look at the preseason coach's poll compared to ESPN's "Preseason FPI rankings"

Coach Poll Rank...........FPI Rank......Difference

1.......Ohio State..........1...Ohio St....(NA)

2.......TCU.................2...Alabama....(+1)

3.......Alabama.............3...TCU........(-1)

4.......Baylor..............4...LSU........(+9)

5.......Oregon..............5...Baylor.....(-1)

6.......Michigan State......6...Oregon.....(-1)

7.......Auburn..............7...Notre Dame.(+4)

8.......Florida St..........8...Ole Miss...(+7)

9.......Georgia.............9...Georgia....(NA)

10......USC.................10..Arkansas...(+10)

11......Notre Dame..........11..Tex A&M....(+16)

12......Clemson.............12..UCLA.......(+2)

13......LSU.................13..USC........(-3)

14......UCLA................14..Tennessee..(+11)

15......Ole Miss............15..Oklahoma...(+4)

16......Arizona State.......16..Mich. St...(-10)

17......Georgia Tech........17..Stanford...(+4)

18......Wisconsin...........18..Auburn.....(-11)

19......Oklahoma............19..Clemson....(-7)

20......Arkansas............20..AZ State...(-4)

21......Stanford............21..Fla St.....(-13)

22......Arizona.............22..Miss. St...(+4)

23......Missouri............23..Ga Tech....(-6)

24......Boise State.........24..Mizzou.....(-1)

25......Tennessee...........25..Michigan...(1 vote in coaches poll)

26......Miss. St

27......Tex A&M

Of the 11 teams that were ranked higher in the FPI than in coaches poll, 7 were SEC teams.

Final disparity between polls by conference (# of spots moved):

ACC......(-26)

Big 10...(-10)

Big 12...(+2)

Pac 12...(-2)

SEC......(+46)

I don't see how anybody could argue that ESPN is unbiased.

Not that the coaches poll is a great standard, but that makes it pretty damn obvious that wearing a SEC patch on the uniform is very important in ESPiN's FPI rankings.

Also, I can't stand Danny Kanell he's a dufus
I don't know if the dude is brilliant or not, and i certainly don't know if he could be quality TV and radio material but I do know he railed against SEC bias like a lone wolf all last year. I will say I hated it 10 years ago when he wore those DKNY hats. Cutesy in a way no football player should be.

You can tell she wasn't born in Michigan, she doesn't weigh 300 lbs. The girls in this state are hideous. There is a reason why the one I am starting to see is a transplant to this terrible state just like I am.

His TV appearances are 10x better than his radio stint and they could certainly do worst mark may

Just got done watching the 30 for 30 program about Duh U, Part 2, dealing with how they built themselves back up of the sanctions of 1990s, essentially a continuation of the 30 for 30 program they did years back on how Miami was built up into a national power during the 1980s and early 1990s. Of course, when they got to the 2003 Fiesta Bowl, they harped on the PI play and all but said Miami actually won the game. But the worst was at the very end of the program, when they started showing stats on how good Miami was. First, they displayed a statement like "From 1979 to 2008 Miami had more first round NFL picks than any other program", paused, and displayed the number "49". Next, a statement that they more total players picked overall during that timeframe, paused, and the showed "180". No biggie, but then they displayed "From 1983 to 2002, Miami won more national championships than any other school", paused, and displayed the number "6". Then after about three seconds, a referee's whistle sounds, a penalty flag drops into view, and the number "6" changed to "5".

Fuck ESPN.

By their logic, I can think of at least one call during regulation that would likely have resulted in an OSU win before OT. So--insert imaginary whistle that never happened--Buckeyes win anyway. (Not quite sure how the refs were able to prevent Dorsey from completing his last pass into the end zone, but, you know...robbed.) :mad1:

Now I'm wondering if espin hasn't taken on extra staff with no other duty than to research some way to invalidate last January's victory. Guess this was their consolation prize.

I have a feeling ESPN on air types are going to be looking for new jobs more than looking stupid in the near future.

Being on the wrong side of large scale customer behavior swings is not a good place to be for a business.
