ESPN (A bunch of Death-Spiraling maroons)

Anyone hear Herbie on Mike&Mike? He said Ohio State fans should blame the voters. It has nothing to do with Secpn and their spin.
OK, I will, Frosted Tips.....

Care to explain why you dropped OSU from 6th to 9th after beating Arkansas? I know, you were sleepy... But... you also said you "knew you had to put OSU below Wisconsin because Wisconsin beat Ohio State" and yet you didn't have a problem ranking LSU above Arkansas... just curious.

As does his illustrious career as a color commentator and CFB expert....
Are you saying that the knowledge of 'team speed' and 'playing well in space' hasn't revolutionized the way you watch college football?

We all need to thank Herbstreit for giving us the ability to win millions in Vegas betting on the teams that are the most SECish every week.

IIRC, Frosted Tips was effusive in his praise of Troy Smith and the tOSU team as a whole while broadcasting The Game in 2006. I remember specifically thinking at the time that it was his attempt to win his way back into the graces of his alma mater after his outspoken condemnation of their offense a couple of years prior. My tinfoil hat makes me think that the powers-that-be at SECpn told him to tone it down the B1G/tOSU love after that and what we have now is a bronzed blonde parody of a broadcaster/sec shill.

Excessive praise during games is his trademark, though. He's like a politician that changes jerseys when they cross state lines.
If you compare to Desmond -- he has no shame promoting Michigan; even the product they're putting on the field is crap.
Maybe he's able to get away with it b/c he played professionally and isn't a "serious broadcaster" ... or maybe he just has enough guts to honestly speak what's on his mind.

The narrative that year was that tOSU had already won the MNC before they even played the Gators.. if the tinfoil conspiracies are true.. Herbie was directed to heap praise on the Buckeyes in 06, they loved us that year.

I do not remember the Media being as hostile to schedules and conferences when Miami and Florida State were running through the Big East and ACC without any significant competition. Or even Nebraska running through the Big 8 when Oklahoma stunk in the mid 1990s. Even Southern Cal did not have a strong PAC 10 when they had their success.

Timeline of events:

>1990's through early 2000's
All the things you describe

> August 2007
launch of the Big Ten Network

> August 2008
ESPN signs 15 year, $2.25 billion contract with SEC

It really is that simple, IMO. Just follow the $$$.
