ESPN (A bunch of Death-Spiraling maroons)

I don't hate Wilbon at all, but it's pretty silly to tell someone to watch their own hyperbole and then say a sports-hack is smarter than any 10 posters here (when there are some pretty bright folks BPing). NW is a great school, but not every great student is a genius.

I know there's backlash against ESPiN, but what would the reaction be if the Big Ten signed the deal with FOX in a couple years?

The bulk of the games would be on FOX national, BTN and the redesigned FOX Sports 1 (now SPEED).

The reason being, FOX might renegotiate the ownership of BTN to make the deal better (it's 51/49 FOX right now).

I stopped paying attention to the announcers on ESPiN, but I know FOX's college line-up isn't that good (Gus Johnson is doing soccer only soon).

I thought after Fox recuperated their start-up costs the B1G took a larger piece of ownership.

Regardless, I don't care what channel the games are on.

The B1G started with 51% ownership of BTN, but Fox actually took over majority control in 2010-11 (not certain if that is still the case, though).

Yet, surprisingly, there was a provision in the 20-year deal between the Big Ten and Fox that would allow a reversal in control. At some point since June 2010 that kicked in and Fox has moved to an approximate 51% ownership position.
A Fox representative declined comment on specifics of the deal, though wrote in an email that "a change in control was anticipated at some point." Yet, he said the Big Ten "maintains sufficient control" over matters "it deems most important."
That surely means there will continue to be no alcohol or gambling-related ads on the network, and promotional programming about campus life at each university will continue.
The flip in majority control may not alter much functionally. The BTN president (now Mark Silverman) will continue to report to a board - it isn't clear if Fox would be able to remove the leader unilaterally - and Fox will still handle affiliate sales, human resources and other functions.

I think max is just Tibor lite now.. except tibor was sometimes funny. There are some EXCEPTIONALLY bright people on this site. Maybe you are a dullard and assume everyone else here must be as well. I would be ecstatic if someone ever offered me the wager of say 100$ per IQ point between myself and Wilbon. To be clear, I dont even have a beef with the guy but your hyperbole is ridiculous.

Nope. Just think people who waste their time on sports message boards (and that obviously includes me) sound ridiculous when calling graduates of top-tier universities, who receive large-bucks salaries, "idiots."* It evidences a lack of perspective; then again, so does wasting one's time on sports message boards.

*Except for Skip Bayless. He, I will admit, is an idiot.

When anger is a primary goal and revenue stream of said company, I find that criticism to be short sighted.

This also assumes those wasting their time on message boards arent graduates of top-tier universities and making large-buck salaries. What we waste our spare time on isnt determined by our IQs

No, automatically assuming that just because someone is a graduate of a top-tier university and receives a large-bucks salary he/she can't be an idiot is what's evidence of a lack of perspective.

Considering that just about every personality not specifically associated with tOSU is ultimately called an idiot, cheater, or jerk by multiple people on this board it seems a more logical conclusion that message boards operate with a high degree of "hate" that is largely irrational.

Boeheim - oh he's a jerk
Saban - evil jerk
Hugh Freeze - cheater
Miles - idiot
Hoke - (fat) idiot
Crean - jerk
Wilbon - idiot
Katz - liar and idiot
Scout - oh they suck
Rivals - they suck worse SEC homers

And this is just in the past few days.

One only has to look back a couple years to see what a huge jerk our current football coach was. I know this is a message board and all, but it would be refreshing if folks could ease up on the hate just a tad.

Next thing you know, we'll have to quit saying "fuck Michigan." Feel free to leave any time...
