Ed "LL" Warinner (Run Game Coordinator FAU)

I was thinking the exact same thing after the Clemson game. This past season when we played Rutgers, Maryland, and some other teams and we were way out in front Meyer/Warriner could have substituted the entire 2nd OL to give them some reps. I know that in this day and age of the BCS it is important to blow out teams but I also think it is important to build depth.

I am not saying that you need to put in your backup players with your first team offense but in some of the games this past season and in other seasons we could have put in our entire 2nd team OL for the entire 4th quarter and we probably still what have put points on the board. I just think that it is very important to build depth because you never know what it is going to be needed.

We did sub the 2nd team in those games for extensive time and the BCS no longer exists, btw.

Don't really wanna see him go but we don't really have a place for him since Stud is going nowhere.

He won't just accept being "demoted" also, so an OC job at Minnesota seems like a better option for Ed.
I'm going to go out on a limb and say Ohio state offensive coordinator to Ohio state o line coach and Ohio state offensive coordinator to minny offensive coordinator is an equal step down.

Stud had pretty similar results to Ed with this line, with comparable talent. Also under Stud, OSU picked up Davis, Moretti and Myers (obviously they lost Moretti later). Recruiting was rather lackluster under Ed, especially when you factor in the high volume of busts.

Myers and Moretti committed to Warinner, though. Both were committed before Stud got on campus. He got Wyatt Davis.

Fair enough, though Moretti eventually left (though I suppose that is on stud :p)
Myers was likely headed to OSU no matter who the OL coach was...
Which suggests that Ed had a lot of issues overall with securing talent. I also recall some recruitments being handled by other position coaches at times for that reason.

OSU will be losing a phenomenal OL coach but it has to happen at this point

Interesting.....they've been wrong before but FootballScoop's latest on the situation

Minnesota: Was a lot of buzz going around the AFCA yesterday that Ohio State OC Ed Warinner had been targeted by PJ Fleck to join the staff at Minnesota as OC. Sources tell FootballScoop that the move is not expected to come together.

Would love to see him on staff as a "run game coordinator" and co OL coach or something.

I don't want too many cooks in the kitchen though. But he needs to work with the OL in some way and it not seem like too bad of a demotion.
