Duke Blue Devils (that rat faced scumbag)

heck, i might have done the same thing if i had been in henderson's shoes. i was thrown out of two games in high school. the first time was during a game against tree of life. i went up for a rebound and a christian was all over my back, as they were doing the whole game. the refs had been turning an eye to their fouls the whole game. private school refs are the worst. anyway, i went on my own personal jihad and elbowed the player in the gut as hard as i could. i was quickly ejected; although, i was permitted to sit on the bench.

my father had never been so happy.

watch the video again. there is absolutely no evidence that hansbrough was going up for a "big dunk in a showboat effort." you do know that players jump when they shoot from underneath the basket, don't you? the ball was knocked out of hansbrough's hands about 2 to 3 feet below the rim.

if it was indeed a hard foul "to send a physical message," by definition it was premeditated. if it was indeed a hard foul "to send a physical message," ejection from the game was merited, as well as being kept from playing in the upcoming game.

hansbrough caught the ball after a single tip off a missed free throw. the ball was not "going everywhere in a scuffle." watch the clip.
and there we have it. hansbrough has shown emotion from time to time, but he is otherwise a walking saltine cracker.
and butch was a pussy for shedding tears after having his forearm ripped from its socket. whatever, doyel. watch the clip. hansbrough was on the ground for 5 or 6 seconds before he got up. if you got hammered on the nose with a flying elbow and blood poured out of your nose, i'm sure it would take you no fewer than 5 seconds to regroup. i was impressed he wasn't on the court longer.

what are you talking about? yea he got the rebound but he was getting hacked by about 3 other dookies underneath the rim because they were fighting for the ball and then out of desperation he threw up a shot from underneath the rim(game was over so why not) and henderson saw he was throwing up a shot so he flew into a pack of guys and tried to block the shot. the last i heard you cant really control yourself in midair unless you have some innate powers that i am unaware of. i hate duke i really do....i have a personal vendetta against them and vitale and hope they all burn in raging hellfire but in this case shit happens and thats what happened. but since its the unc-duke rivalry everybody will blow it way out of proportion and say it was with intent...blah blah.

again, we have some people here who watched a different game than i did. watch the clip below. you will see that that only one player (johnson, #51) fouled hansbrough before henderson barreled in. there were not "about 3 other dookies" that hacked him. clearly, your recollection is inaccurate. also, he did not "out of desperation" throw up a shot. he merely attempted to go up for a shot. it's basketball. that's what basketball players do. it's the duke-unc rivalry. any player from either team would have attempted to do the same thing.
the last i heard you cant really control yourself in midair unless you have some innate powers that i am unaware of.
that "innate power" is called body control. are you kidding me? just because you're in the air doesn't mean that you have no control over your body. otherwise, i guess football receivers are merely lucky to find the football in their hands.

If Hansbrough wouldnt of had blood running all over his face I don't think it would of been that big of a deal, you could see Henderson going for the hard foul, but when the ball was stripped his eyes were following the ball and his elbow then hit Hansbrough in the face...

i go to duke, and here's my take on it:

hansbrough was going for a big dunk in a show boat effort. he could have just held on to the ball to run the clock out. if we were really still trying to get back in the game, then we would foul him and sent him to the line. rather, hansbrough took it strong to the hole. gerald did not want any of this showboating, and thus he went for the hard foul to send a physical message. it was not a punch or anything premeditated like that. it was just a hard foul for pride. unfortunately, it turned out poorly. i'm sure he would take it back if he could.

i feel that ejection was sort of appropriate because of the hostile environment. but did he really have to be suspended from the acc tourney game? (i'm not sure if it's possible to be ejected but not be suspended a game?)

anyways, that's my take on it. please don't flame me. i love the bucks too. born and raised in cleveland, but this is my school and i love duke as well.

Why was Hansbrough still even in the game at that point?

Hope Williams learned a lesson about leaving your star players in at garbage time.

duke was down by only 12 with 1:40 to go. when there was a minute to go, williams had hansborough's sub in at the table. there was no break until the free throws, which were being shot by hansbrough. though roy should have called a timeout to take out his key player(s), hansbrough's presence didn't warrant the hard foul.

Total cheap shot. Henderson is such a great athlete that he plays basketball at one of the premiere programs in the nation, yet he doesn't have the body control to keep from following through on a forearm directed at the face of an opponent when the ball isn't even in the picture anymore? Please.

Not a cheap shot, didn't even warrant the ejection and suspension IMO. He was going for a block, adjusting for the loose ball when the contact occurred. Most accounts I've read seem to agree...
he must suck pretty badly at blocking shots then. his hand wasn't close to the ball. nobody blocks a shot with their arm at a 90 degree angle.

I hear what you are saying, but there have been many times when players have been hit in the nose harder than that with elbows and there has been no blood...I think the blood made the situation look worse than what it was...
