Five-star wing Shelton Henderson and Duke part ways
Henderson is the No. 14-ranked recruit in the 2025 class. His recruitment is back open.
Shelton Henderson, the No. 14 overall recruit in the 2025 class, and Duke have parted ways, sources tell 247Sports. The five-star recruit has been released from his National Letter of Intent to Duke, and he has reopened his recruitment.
The 6-foot-6 small forward out of Bellaire (Texas) committed to Duke on Nov. 2 over schools including Texas, Louisville, and others.
Henderson was the last commitment for the Blue Devils in their No. 1 overall recruiting class following Cameron Boozer, Cayden Boozer, and Nikolas Khamenia.
The news of Shelton's decommitment does not come as a surprise given the outlook of Duke's roster for the 2025-26 season with their projected depth on the perimeter moving forward and the growing number of decommitments this time of year.
During his recruitment to Duke, Henderson's primary recruiter for the Blue Devils was former Duke assistant and now Miami head coach Jai Lucas, who has strong connections to Henderson given their Texas roots. Not only are they both Texans, but Henderson attends the same high schoool Lucas graduated from and played for a team run by Lucas' family during the summers in Nike's EYBL.
Henderson is among the growing number of highly touted recruits who have reopened their recruitment in the spring and will undoubtedly have major interest at the high-major level.
