Now that is a GPA in my book!!!
I guess I am similar to Garrett in that I do not pay much attention to praise rather to provide honest & insightful information!!!

Now my HONEST reply.....I guess I have been purely oblivious / ignorant to the basic rules of this forum and all of it's offerings. Please forgive this oversight.

Toward the end of this interview with Marcus Hall Bucknuts.com - Bucknuts TV: Glenville's Marcus Hall Is A Buckeye , Hall talks about his jersey number and states "Goebel has it, 79, and I think he's leaving, so..."

I was pretty surprised by that - any information out there aside from an incoming recruit's speculation?

They could share the jersey number as they're on different sides of the ball - maybe Marcus just misunderstood?!

Garrett is #53, IIRC.

He must have said the wrong name. Goebel is listed as #53 on the OSU athletics site. Jon Skinner was 79, and he was a senior o-lineman.

* As for Goebel, he won?t be a starter at defensive tackle (the Buckeyes have a lot of experience returning at the position with Todd Denlinger, Dexter Larimore and Doug Worthington) but he?ll definitely be in the rotation. Ohio State defensive coordinator Jim Heacock is anxious to see what Goebel will bring to the table in 2009.

?I?m very excited about Garrett,? Heacock said. ?The thing you always find out when they?re playing scout team, all you?ve really got to do is go in the locker room after practice and if you hear the offensive coaches saying, ?Garrett Goebel, we?re struggling with him. We can?t block him,? that bodes pretty well for that player. It seemed like every other day Bolls would come up to me and say, ?Boy, Garrett Goebel gives us a heck of a time out there on the scout team. We just have a hard time blocking him.? And that?s where it first stands out and that?s where you first get excited.

?And then you see him in the weight room, you see his work ethic and you see everything he?s doing off the field, he?s going to be a good football player and it really is exciting.?

Great to hear that the Glad is turning some heads in practice. I expect big things from him over his career. He has a tremendous work ethic and with his wrestling skills, he will be a load to handle in the middle. Another in the long line of hard nosed, tough former wrestlers to line up in the middle for the Bucks, Fickell, Anderson, Larrimore and now Goebel.

Garrett drew positive comments from Coach Heacock and Todd Denlinger.

A Sprinkling of Youth: The juniors and seniors will dominate the two-deep, but there is a youth movement taking place at the same time.

Redshirt freshman Willie Mobley (6-3, 265) and Garrett Goebel (6-5, 280) are both working at tackle while sophomore Nathan Williams (6-3, 245) returns for his second season after seeing a surprising amount of playing time last year.

Goebel has impressed Heacock with is effort and attitude and seems to figure in OSU's plans this season.

"He's in the two-deep for sure and getting better every day," said Heacock

"He did a good job redshirting.

"You can redshirt and get better, you can redshirt and stay the same or you can redshirt and get worse. He got better.

"He worked hard in the weight room and when he was on scout team he really worked hard against our offensive line. That translates into getting better."

"He (Goebel) has had a great spring," added Denlinger.

"I know the coaches think highly of him because he works hard and he's always doing the right thing.

"This spring he's made a lot of plays and he's going to be exciting to watch."​
