Correct. It's 0.02, which is to say that you shouldn't drive after a gargle of mouthwash.

I seriously doubt, however, that Doug would have been charged if his BAC were that low.

And he won't be kicked out of school. That would be insane to completely take away a young man's future for a mistake made by many OSU students, including many people I (and I'm sure many of you guys) know. That doesn't mean that OVIs shouldn't be taken seriously. They should... by the legislature, who set the criminal penalties.
Disagree with the not being charged part. He would have been charged - it most likely would have been dropped to a failure to control or wreckless-op, but it's almost election time for judges, MADD/Legislators would be furious, and it's a HUGE money maker.

Rumors are the OVI limit is going to be lowered to .05 for everyone here soon

What was his BAC?

According to Doug Lesmerises of the Plain Dealer:

UPDATE: According to the incident report from OSU police, Worthington was cited for driving his white Cadillac Escalade 41 miles per hour in a 25 mile per hour zone. He was stopped just outside Ohio Stadium, at the intersection of Woody Hayes Drive and Cannon Drive.

According to one charge in the report, Worthington's blood alcohol content was between .08 and .17 on a breath test. The legal limit is .08

Well, we'll have to seriously disagree on that last point.

Yeah, I remember going to Ohio State. I really remember being broke and driving an old hand-me-down vehicle. I do not like one bit hearing that Doug Worthington was driving a luxury SUV.

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

Ohio State defensive tackle Doug Worthington might have put his starting status in jeopardy after being arrested last weekend and charged with driving under the influence.

Worthington, 20, was pulled over by Ohio State police at 3:13 a.m. Saturday, records show, near the intersection of Woody Hayes Drive and Cannon Drive -- in front of Ohio Stadium.

He was driving 41 mph in a 25-mph zone.

He was released shortly afterward and faces a DUI charge for having a blood-alcohol content between 0.08 and 0.17.

The charge is a first-degree misdemeanor punishable by up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine.

What difference does that make? Does an Escalade induce drunkeness? Do you have intimate knowledge of the Worthington family financial situation?
C'mon...it raises eyebrows no matter what. Whether it is fair or not...it does...it's something in the back of most people's head when they just now saw that Doug has an Escalade.

All college sports fans do it when they hear about an incident that involves college kids and expensive cars that most adults can't afford.

Now hear at BP, we're not going to go about speculating...but it's in people's minds.

So drawing attention to it is helping the situation? I'm not suggesting brush it under the carpet completely, but come on, this situation is about Doug drunk driving, not Doug drives an escalade.

I'm not naive to what having a nice car may or may not imply to some people, but it's not anyone's business what car he drives. I thought the comment - and what it was insinuating - was out of line.

Driving 41 in a 25 with a few drinks in him.. and underage? Stupid idea.

How many drinks would it take a guy his size to blow .08 and up?

Understood and I agree, just being devil's advocate I suppose.

And to my own devil's advocate side I would respond that Doug attended a catholic/private high school and thus his family could easily be well off (not always the case. I went to an inner-city catholic school in which a lot of kid's were on financial aid). Plus, with a full-ride, his parents have a lot more leeway financially with what they were possibly saving up in his college fund.

Back to the DUI charge at hand...ironic I guess that he got pulled over right in front of the stadium he was set to play in just a month later. Hopefully he realized then what a horrible mistake/mess he had just made.

Just think of the nice car you could buy if you didn't have to pay all those pesky tuition bills.

Oh wait....that's kinda similar.

I did not mean to imply that the car was or was not something improper. As many people have pointed out, it raises eyebrows... eyebrows that just love to bash OSU. That's what I was implying.

Also, I tend to think of a Cadillac Escalade as a financially irresponsible vehicle for a college kid - whether purchased by his parents or himself. It's a silly purchase. I just hope he's not eating Ramen noodles, since he apparently has the money to buy a luxury vehicle. Wouldn't a simple Saturn be more sensible? Then he could eat at a classy place, like Skyline Chili.

Just think of the nice car you could buy if you didn't have to pay all those pesky tuition bills.

I didn't pay tuition. The university saw fit to give it to me for free. (suckas!)
