DT Cameron Heyward (6x Pro Bowl, 3x All Pro, Pittsburgh Steelers)

He's just a freshman
Defensive lineman Cameron Heyward might be the Greg Oden of the football team, in terms of looking older than his age.

Heyward is a true freshman who turned 18 in May. But he's 6 feet 6, 280 pounds, and has a glowering look about him.

"He looks like a grown man," said fellow defensive lineman Lawrence Wilson, who said Heyward weighs 295. "He's got big size 18 feet, and when he comes off the ball, he comes off so hard and so powerful. That 295, when he gets that running, it's hard to stop it.

"When he hits you, you feel it. I think he's going to be a big contributor to our defense."

Heyward's build reminds me a lot of Alan Branch.

I just hope he has a lot better work ethic and attitude than Branch.

Probably better to find a non-tsun players to compare Buckeyes to. Had to fight any itch ding finger when I saw this initially. :wink2:

Heyward is going to play big this year with Wilson now out. I assume Rose starts at the other end opposite Gholston, but Heyward is going to get plenty of PT. Too bad for Ryan Williams and Walter Dublin.

Does anyone else think we can see Heyward 6'6" 295 and Rose 6'4" 294 in at the same time?

HOLY HELL thats a big line! Might be something to think about when tryin to stop the run... Cameron is going to have a great year I can feel it!!

As soon as he ran onto the field I noticed him. The guy just has presence. I instantly thought of Spellman. Just a total beast from day 1 in a Buckeye uniform. Can't wait to see him on the b-ball court. He is going to put a hurtin' on somebody.

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

Cameron Heyward said he is zeroed in on playing football. But when Ohio State recruited the 6-foot-6, 280-pound freshman defensive end, he was told he could take a shot at playing basketball too. Will he?
"I don't know yet," Heyward said.

As for BBall - if Heyward doesn't know how his body will feel after two games I can pretty much guess how it will be feeling after 13. Not expecting to see this kid on the hardwood.

With the depth we'll have in the post this year, I doubt he'd get a lot of playing time anyway.
