Glad to see DGB NOT in the SEC and staying home with Mizzou. Good choice.

When former Ohio State coach Jim Tressel first called John Beckham about Green-Beckham, Beckham's son, Malachi, answered the call while playing a game on John's phone.

"Dad, there's some guy named Jim who wants to talk to you," he said.

Beckham took the call.

"I said, 'Who's this?'" John Beckham said. "He said, 'Hello, this is Jim Tressel.'"

Tressel began to call about once a week.

"And then one time, I was out to dinner with my wife and my phone rang," Beckham said. "She said, 'Aren't you going to answer it?' I said, 'No, it's just Jim Tressel.'"

Tressel was always nice, said Beckham, who laughs at the recollection. He understands how crazy it sounds -- and that's exactly it was.

Mizzou's biggest catch isn't hauling them in

Even before playing his first game, Dorial Green-Beckham had a nifty nickname -- DGB -- and serious expectations. Transitioning to college life as a freshman offers challenges on many fronts: classroom, social life, sports. None is more public than the conversion on the athletic stage, where Green-Beckham is a work in progress after being hailed by some as not only the top recruit in the country for 2012 but the biggest catch in Mizzou history. ... [Some] fans are getting antsy, the hype surrounding his signing having generated lofty expectations. Message boards are brimming with DGB rants and rumors. The interest for his arrival at camp was feared to be so intense that Mizzou officials allowed Green-Beckham to conduct only one session with the media in August.

I kind of feared these lofty expectations would be thrown DGB's way. Its almost unfair that he's being asked to be randy moss already and he's just a true frosh learning then playbook and getting acclimated to college life.

Curtis Grant says hello. He was being considered a bust by some last year.

True, but I think DGB is under more pressure for commiting to the home town school. Grant wasn't known to casual osu fans before he got to cbus. DgB was known throughout the state and was supposed to almost dominate. I don't think this pressure would be as intense if he went to say, Arkansas or usc, imo.
