Dominique Brown (Louisville signee)

I apologize if this was previously stated, but what position does he want to play in college, or does it not matter?

He's said that although he'd like to have a chance at QB, it's more important to him that he stays on the offensive side of the ball. Considering he didn't play defense for Winton Woods, that's not surprising.

Where in the heck could we put him where he'd get any PT then, when we have 3WRs coming into this class already and at RB we have 7 on schollie(inlcuding Rod Smith)?

That's the question that I was just about to ask. If he's not open to playing on defense, even if he doesn't end up there, then he should probably go to
GT.

Oh look 1000 posts..nice bro.

I'd guess he'd project as a WR, although I'm not sure anyone knows whether he'd be able to make the transition. I can't imagine him getting a look at QB at OSU, and there are just so many tailbacks that will be on the roster (as you noted). I have a really hard time projecting someone to play on defense when he has no varsity experience there, nor any desire to play there.

Then you have to ask the question, can he catch the ball?

He hasn't proven that either...

If he doesn't want to/can't play defense, then I wouldn't offer him.

Brown's physical build is ideal for Star, though so is Hagan's. We already have a ton of RB's and we have a ton of WR talent as well...despite all this, I feel if the grades are there, we offer. I'm not sure where he projects but I just feel his talent is high enough that we'll worry about that later. Not to mention, what if these "can't miss" guys we are calling over rated (not you particularly) like Brown and Louis don't pan out like we seem to suggest happens often? I personally see it like this: You can either target a player at a position of need with questionable talent or offer the best talent out there regardless of position. I believe there is no position of absolute need after the balance of '08 and '09, so I would be inclined to say we are going the talent route.

Or you can offer Prater and see what you get once he gets to campus as opposed to trying and project how a QB is going to transition to WR. I think Brown is really talented but if he is set on playing offense when we have so much depth at those positions, why not go after another high ceiling kid who is already playing WR.

The staff didn't offer Prater before, I'm not sure why they would do so now. We also have 3 WR in this class counting C. Brown.

Final Cut: Rivals 250 has 15 new names
January 14, 2010

...
ATH Dominique Brown, 6-3/215, Cincinnati (Ohio) Winton Woods
RANK: No. 193
SCHOOLS: Cincinnati and Georgia Tech lead.
WHY HE'S IN THE 250: As a quarterback, Brown scored 11 touchdowns during the final two games of Winton Woods' championship run. Brown is big and fast, and athletically was far superior to everyone else on the field. He won't be a quarterback in college, but his size and speed will give him the opportunity to play at one of several positions at the next level. - GREG LADKY

What about a Percy Harvin type role, or maybe I should call it a Brandon Saine type role? He could give the D many different looks and a ton to prepare for. He could also operate out of the wildcat.

There is no doubt he's electric with the ball in his hands.
