How has he been trying to give Chatman a chance all year? Besides yesterday when he came in after Brown got hurt, Chatman has not seen the field since week 4 when he had 3 carries.

Cameron basically said he played Chatman in the preseason to give him the opportunity to win the starting job. Chatman and Brown split carries until Chatman got hurt in the second game. I think he limped off field again in game 4 (and again in the last game). Hes trying to give him opportunities but Chatman's body cant take the abuse anymore.

going winless could be good for them, especially getting the first overall pick. That said I think they will be 2-14

Source: Dolphins to release Thomas after 11 seasons

Zach Thomas, who has more tackles than any linebacker in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, will be released by the Miami Dolphins, a league source said Thursday afternoon.

The Dolphins' decision to release Zach Thomas comes as no surprise given the regime change in Miami, coupled with concerns over Thomas' age and injuries., writes Mike Sando. Hashmarks

The Dolphins had no comment, but the source said the official move was likely to come Thursday afternoon. A fifth-round pick in 1996, Thomas has spent 11 seasons with the Dolphins, recording more than 1,500 tackles.
But Thomas' age and salary worked against him as the Dolphins begin a major rebuilding process with Bill Parcells running the front office and Tony Sparano taking over as coach. Thomas will turn 35 in September and was scheduled to make $5.65 million in base salary in 2008.

Looks like we need to update this thread. Billy boy has been very busy.

Hopefully Jake Long pans out and we dont need another left tackle for a while.

Parcells just raped Dallas tonight in getting TE Anthony Fasano and LB Akin Ayodele for a 4th rounder. Two potential starters for a 4th rounder? I'm lovin the heck out of this one.

Things are looking good for the 'Phins right now. A lot of stud recievers left to help out Ginn, and Connor, Cason and Mike Jenkins available on defense. Looking very very good.

I predict Jason Taylor is a Washington Redskin or Tampa Bay Buccaneer very soon. They picked up 2 2nds and a 4th in this draft already. If they offer a 2nd and 4th for JT he will be gone.

Im hating this draft for Miami. I should have realized his decision to sign an OT as first pick overall was a prelude to signing a statuesque QB (to max out the bullpen with young, inexperienced underachievers I guess) ... presumably he couldnt talk Bledsoe out of retirement. Not to mention the fact that the Jets got Gholston. We let a decent and aggressive CB pass us by... and look.. another OL to protect the statue. Sigh, the worst defense in the league arguably and three of the first five picks are offensive players.

Alright, round 6..

I like Parmele as a good risk versus his potential despite RB not being a screaming need, but another OL and another even more obscure RB Lex Hilliard (for which ESPN has no info but rotoworld says powerback, and stats say wildly inconsistent) and now Miami has officially ignored the defense completely. We went all offense last year too, which doubles the error. Watching our safeties and CBs run around like theyve never seen football played before is less than exciting, as is the standard for league worst average yards allowed per play and highest percentage of first down conversions allowed.

Man we totally blew it on day 2. The Langford pick could turn out to be pretty good but other than that a big WTF?!?!?!?!? The corners are atrocious and we've already signed a bunch of FA safeties this season. The O and Dlines will be very good but I would've liked to see Kirk Barton with our last pick or event the Marcus Monk pick which followed thereafter. In round 6 we completely stubbed our toe. We had 3 picks and did not get a contributor out of the 3. Hubbard WR, Wisconsin was there for the taking as well as DeJuan Tribble from BC. Both went round 6 after our first pick. In the 7th round the 3 players following our pick ,Lionel Dotson, were all players that could come in and contribute soon for the Dolphins- Mario Urrutia, Kirk Barton and Marcus Monk.

We started out well and went to shit starting with Henne!

post draft signings:

OT Dan Gore, Boise State
LB Kelly Poppinga, BYU ?
WR Jayson Foster, Georgia Southern
OT Mike Byrne, Delaware
WR Davone Bess, Hawaii

I like Bess, One of the few receiving highlights on Hawaii's team in my opinion. Not a top WR talent as much as a potential Welker type player.

Jayson Foster I think is a 'lets see what he can do' type of guy. He was the only GS eagle to ever score a touchdown five different ways: rushing, passing, receiving, punt return and kickoff return. He was being looked at by NFL scouts for QB, WR, CB...

Dolphins star Taylor too busy to tango with Tuna

Here's one example of why Miami Dolphins defensive end Jason Taylor literally doesn't have time for the fascinating tension gurgling atop the Dolphins organization between Miami's star boss and Miami's star employee:
The other day, Taylor rushed late to a lunch with Denzel Washington. Taylor's Dancing With the Stars partner kept texting him during that two-hour meal to remind Taylor he was late for rehearsal. So Taylor told Washington that, sorry, he couldn't go over to a nearby hotel to meet a waiting friend of Washington's who also wanted an audience with Taylor. That friend was Al Pacino.
Understandably, Dolphins boss Bill ''The Big Tuna'' Parcells doesn't like that his best player has gone Hollywood, though we haven't heard from Parcells directly because he isn't at all interested in the big lights Taylor now craves. Parcells' world has never been much larger than that of football. He disdains how celebrity and ego contaminate his beloved sport. Why the bleep are Scarface and Malcolm X and bleeping dancers invading his bloody world? Seriously? Dancing? Parcells would call them distractions if he had any interest in speaking to the cameras.
Meanwhile, Taylor quietly shrugs his shoulder pads and applies more makeup as he continues to build the bridge toward his next career. Taylor's schedules and interests don't allow him to focus on the feelings of a single Tuna when he is now swimming with so many bigger fish.

From what I understand D. Bess has been great in minicamp. I know, I know it's minicamp but you've got have hope. While I'm making assumptions Dale Murphy's boy must look good for the foreseeable future after releasing Mormino. They signed Mckinney but he's proved he is only average if that & will be a good plug & play for the start.:groove2:

News from camp so far:

Beck and McCown look good and are picking up the offense quickly. Beck is starting to have a problem with taking sacks though and McCown has had fumblitis. I refuse to mention that other guy.

A couple surprises on the Oline as projections arent turning out the way they thought. Indukwe is battling on the 2nd team at guard so far and is ahead of rookie Shawn Murphy. Vernon Carey has played both guard and right tackle thus far as well.

Ricky Williams has looked fantastic. His burst is back and he hasnt missed a single voluntary workout. If he can give Ronnie some help in the back field the Dolphins are in good shape.

The defensive line looks to be gelling already as a unit. They should be more stout against the run this year. The linebackers are going to have to step it up and get consistent pressure on the QB to help out the awful secondary.

Will Allen continues to impress at one corner. He's consistently taking on bigger recievers and "roughing them up". If Bell comes back 100% the Dolphins will only be weak in one half the secondary this season vs. the entire secondary. Lito Sheppard is still on the block for the Eagles and he'd look great in Aqua and Orange.
