So the fins put in their rookie QB in the first preseason game. It was the late second quarter against the Bucs 2nd or 3rd string defense and he goes 5-10 including a nice 20 yard pass. The Miami Herald is already comparing him to Dan.

Somebody, eventually, has to be good enough to accept the Next Marino torch and be able to stand the heat that comes with it. We have been waiting since No. 13 departed with the old century.
The original, Marino himself, was watching from the sideline Saturday. Was he seeing a first glimpse of his rightful successor?

Wayne Huizenga's associates say he wants to sell managing control to Stephen Ross right after the Dec. 28 finale because waiting until after Jan. 1 puts him at risk of paying perhaps $20 million more in taxes in the Barack Obama administration. If Miami makes the postseason, Huizenga might need to sell before a playoff game.

Free agency opens a month from today, and the Miami Dolphins are facing the potential loss of one of their up-and-coming defensive players.
Middle linebacker Channing Crowder has completed his rookie contract, and he’s eligible to hit the market.

Absent a contract extension or the application of the franchise tag, he will.A league source says that the Fins aren’t expected to apply the franchise tender to Crowder.
What’s unclear at this point is whether the two sides will be able to work out a deal.

Hey Channing,
Call me if you need help packing.
And to any team interested in signing him… send someone to pick him up. If he flies like he plays defense, he’ll go in the wrong gate.

There are a lot of fans enamored with Crowder. I for one am in the camp that Reggie Torbor and Akin Ayodele are both better. With Roth and Porter on the edges it makes sense to drop his ass and draft a LB in round two or 3 unless, Laurinaitis or one of the USC backers drops to them in the first round. A pass rusher would also be very nice along with a lockdown corner. I think another great Olineman or two and the offense will be fine.

Jason Taylor set to re-sign with Miami Dolphins

Jason Taylor is expected to rejoin the Miami Dolphins as early as today.
Dolphins general manager Jeff Ireland and agent Gary Wichard were in negotiations since early Monday morning and the sides are very, very close to announcing a one-year deal.
In negotiating this reunion of the team's all-time sacks leader and the club that drafted him in 1997, Taylor snubbed overtures from a handful of clubs, not the least of which was New England.
Taylor's contract is very salary-cap friendly. He walked away from an $8.5 million base salary in Washington and told the Dolphins he would play for whatever they wanted to pay him. The Associated Press reports that Taylor will earn $1.5 million.

The Columbus Dispatch - News
Venus and Serena Williams have found a new sport: pro football. The tennis-playing sisters will become the latest celebrities to own a stake in the Miami Dolphins, a person familiar with the deal said Wednesday. The person didn't want to be identified because the team plans an announcement Tuesday. Another person close to the negotiations said an agreement was near but not yet final. That person also didn't want to be identified because the announcement has not be made.
The Williamses live in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., about an hour's drive from the Dolphins' stadium. Their new role will be significant in part because the NFL has no African-American majority team owner.
Musicians Gloria and Emilio Estefan and Marc Anthony recently bought small shares of the team. New Dolphins owner Stephen Ross also forged a partnership with singer Jimmy Buffett.

Steve Ross predicts Dolphins will make Super Bowl this season

Stephen Ross may be the owner of the Miami Dolphins, but if his comments yesterday are any indication, his feelings toward the team may be more that of a fan than an owner. Ross, a University of Michigan alum, predicted to reporters that the Dolphins would be in the Super Bowl this coming season, citing quarterback Chad Henne as a key ingredient to that run. "Chad Henne can handle pressure. That I can tell you," Ross said. "I know (because) he started in the University of Michigan as a true freshman playing in front of 110,000 people and leading them to the Big 10 championship, as a true freshman."

ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports the Dolphins will hire Browns OC Brian Daboll for the same position in Miami.
Daboll comes from the Bill Belichick coaching tree as a defensive assistant and wide receivers coach from 2000-06. He followed Eric Mangini to New York, where he worked with Brett Favre before moving onto Cleveland in 2009. His offense finished 31st in the league in points and 29th in yards this season. To be fair, though, he maximized the Browns' underwhelming talent while making impressive progress with Colt McCoy's development. Still, the choice is a bit of a head-scratcher as owner Stephen Ross has stated that he wants an exciting, fast-breaking offense. Daboll was criticized for being too conservative in 2010. Daboll's hiring leaves Chargers TEs coach Rob Chudzinski as the favorite for the Panthers offensive coordinator job. Jan. 17 - 2:05 pm et

Now ya see why I'm all-Hurricanes all-the-time.

Freaking Dolphins...

Man...that shit is RIDICULOUS!! I haven't seen a bumbling bunch of idiots like this in a LONG time!

First they go courting Harbaugh. Then, oh, Tony, we were just visiting.
Here's your extension...

And this whole Henne bullshit.
<sigh>
What a wanker...

But...never mind...
It ain't worth the wasted keystrokes.

Cautiously optimistic this season. Still need a better QB and the Oline can be a sieve at times. I really like the defense though and its possible Bush/Thomas will be better than Brown/Williams. I guess we'll see.

Thomas needs to step it up and the O Line, well fuck, they need to get it together. Hopefully the return of Jake Long will help things but shit, they look bad. I would hate to see this D get abused because our offense is so bad. Bush has impressed as I wasn't a fan of the initial singing. (Wish we acquired Jacobs)

edit: And fuck Marshall, but he has me optimistic after the first three games.
