Does Michigan go to a bowl game this year?

Sell. What was Illinois record 2-3 years ago? While I don't think it will be that bad, 2-9, 2-10, it certainly won't be drastically better. Coaching change+system change+loss of family values+personnel loss = no bowl.

I think many people are expecting a Notre Dame quality team meltdown this year. ND was way more talented than some of the teams they lost to last year, yet they were 3-9. I highly doubt scUM pulls a number like that...but anything is possible.

There is a huge difference between Charlie and RR.

Charlie was completely unqualified. He is being paid premium wages to go through the apprenticeship other coaches serve at smaller programs.

RR has done this before. Much as I don't like the guy he knows how to get what he can get out of what he's got. Molding a substandard squad into an over achieving winner may be what he does best.

IMO maintaining a high level program over an extended period is where he will fall short.

I think my feelings are pretty obvious on the subject, but just in case, I'll go on the record and say yeah, bowl game for Michigan. Even if we drop to 6-6, the Motor City Bowl would shit their pants with happiness to get Michigan.

The more I look at that early season schedule and the more I think how bad that offense in AA might be at first I might reconsider my previous stance that 6-6 or better was a given.

Utah, Miami OH and @ NoD.

Doesn't seem tough to us but the first two are SR laden mid majors who know how to compete with the big boys. I still think scUM might win both but that first 3 game stretch is a lot more interesting than your normal OOC slate. They do any worse than 2-1 and they are in deep kimchi.

Also, I'm going to call the upset now and say Minny beats scUM up in the baggy dome.

First season at Salem College 2-8
First season at Glenville College 1-7-1
First season at WVU 3-8

Once he gets his guys in there, he'll do fine. Until then, he's under 6 wins this year.

There you go - if he wins three games this year he will have nine wins in his first season at four different schools. :)

I'm sticking with my projection anyhow.

Either I am right or Michigan implodes. I can't lose.

Utah - Win. Utah is retaining their 1000+ yard running back (Now a senior). Michigan has lost a lot of it's defense. It could go either way.

Miami (OH) - Win

Notre Dame - Loss

Wisconsin - Loss

Illinois - Loss

Toledo - Win

Penn State - Loss

Michigan State - Loss

Purdue - Loss

Minnesota - Win

Northwestern - Loss

Ohio State - Loss

4-8, no bowl. They will improve in '09, though.
