Does Michigan go to a bowl game this year?

It will be interesting to see the opening line for the Utah game. I think the Utes are a lot stronger than people are giving them credit for.

I was debating on whether or not to take the Utes. I think Utah & Minnesota will hang with them

I think many people are expecting a Notre Dame quality team meltdown this year. ND was way more talented than some of the teams they lost to last year, yet they were 3-9. I highly doubt scUM pulls a number like that...but anything is possible.

This puts you and me in approximately the same camp. Sure it's possible, but it's not likely. And anyone who is "expecting" it is probably basing his expectations principally on hope.

And say what you want to about Rich Rodriguez, but there's no reason to believe he'll schematically advantage his team into utter ineptitude. Will he, through domineering arrogance, break them down psychologically past the point of recovery, as I believe Weis did to some extent? It's possible, but I find it hard to expect it.

ND's schedule was in a completely different galaxy from TSUN's this fall. Sure ND could've won a few more last year in terms of talent, but there are no parallels between that schedule and this one, other than their place as a hated rival of many of the same folk.

UM will have a rough start to the season, but after the front-loaded competition is past, they should easily make their way to a bowl game.

That comes down to Justin Feagin and the trenches after the first month or so. If they can be merely adequate, UM will make a bowl game. If he looks like a frosh out there (or worse, isn't ready and Threet/Sheridan are running the offense), that highly turnover prone offense could be disastrous at times. The trench play comment needs no explanation as that determines ball games. UM is weak on the OL and have almost no depth behind a very good DL.

I will be watching that Utah game closely, during OSU commercials of course. I'm definitely not as high on scUM's defense as they are, and they will see the field far more time this year than they did last year. The offensive line was bad last year and lost their 2 best lineman. If its not Feagin starting the other guys don't look pretty throwing to the scUM receivers. I do like their tailbacks but it's not like any of them are really that scary on their own. There is only 1 football. I think scUM's offense could be pretty awful though not Ntre Ame awful, that means the defense I'm not all that excited about is on the field more.

I could definitely see scUM losing to Utah, Notre Dame, Wisconsin, Illinois, Penn State, Michigan State, Purdue, and Ohio State. Yes that's 8 teams, but I'm not sure scUM won't lose to 7 of them. I'm also not completely ready to count my Chickens for scUM victories over Miami and Minnesota.

Without Appy State on the schedule, Michigan will definitely go to a bowl game.
But their prayers to play Florida, the only team that they have beaten twice this
decade in a bowl game, will not be answered--resulting in another bowl game loss.
