Disgraced Former Penn State DC Jerry Sandusky (convicted child molester)

Regarding the showering issue.

I'd be willing to bet just about all of us took HS Gym (what with it being a requirement and all). Does anyone ever recall any adult school staff members hopping into the showers at the same time as students?

More importantly I am sure there is a large percentage of individuals on this board who participated in HS athletics and a smaller (but significant) number that played at the college level.

Do any of you recall any coaches sharing the showers with athletes?

In my case I specifically recall that not only did my HS wrestling coaches wait until after the wrestlers were finished and leaving the locker room before they would take a shower but that they would keep the blinds on the coaches room/office closed while we were changing/showering.

In HS football the locker room/shower was separate from the meeting, training & coaches room. The coaches did not regularly come into the locker area at all after practice, let alone the showers.

At the college level the coaches had a separate shower stall attached to their office/break area, not once did they ever come into the players showers.

When I coached wrestling at the HS level neither I nor any other coach ever showered with the wrestlers.

This was in the late 80's early 90's and even at that point at time I definitely reremeber coaches showering with HS & college aged athletes was considered inappropriate...let alone random young children who were not affiliated with the team.

Not only did coaches not shower with players they intentionally distanced themselves from the area when players were in a state of undress specifically to avoid even the appearance of impropriety.

I'll post it again its just a blant admission of guilt imo.

Amendola can't even get his client to admit he didn't molest underage boys. How's he going to convince a jury?

Question: Are you sexually attracted to young boys?
Appropriate Answer: No.
Jerry Sandusky Answer: Sexually attracted? I enjoy young people. I love to be around them...I...uh...but NO.

i played baseball, basketball, football, track, and cross country in high school. three sports per year. never once did a coach shower at the same time as the players. i also attended middle and high school before the last decade's mass hysteria that has been the perception of most adult males being pedophiles.

Come on, guys. Take the blinders off.

Showering in a communal shower with a large number of other individuals in a wide array of age groups is exactly the same as taking a one-on-one shower with a young boy.

If you can't see that, you are clearly just another green-eyed media-loving pigdog more interested in tarnishing the legacy of JoePa at the expense of St. Sandusky than in the truth.

Hmmm I don't think showering with complete strangers in a big public shower is the same as one in one showers. These people are dilussional.

You are just jealous of how morally superior Penn State is.

This is what I'm struggling to remember, if there were even coaches in the area...

Though, I do remember in Jr. High Gym, and this was sort of a big deal, because this was the first time you had to shower after Gym... I think, the Gym teacher cam down after the first class to make sure everyone understood what was expected but, then it was other students (Gym Aids or whatever) that were in charge of towels, etc and the teacher never came in that area again that I can remember.

I guess I can remember coaches in the locker room area, which was kind of close, but I think you had to go through a whole other locker room to get there, because that's where we staged equipment to get on the bus as well...

I mean, there's some validity to this YMCA thing, obvious village people jokes aside, I mean, if you're talking swimming pool, and you have to shower before and probably want to after, there's just a men's and women's shower/locker room.... so, yeah, as creepy as it all is... at the end of the day, you have Sandusky, who is supposed to be an advocate or responsible for these kids safety acting as a predator. For full disclosure, my HS baseball coach was indeed later convicted of having inappropriate relationships with (female) students, so, really, you know, as creepy as it all is... at the end of the day, Sandusky is a monster who should have been protecting them in these situations if they were indeed necessary/otherwise innocent.

I think it could be read a number of ways. I won't say it's a blatant admission of guilt. I will say it's consistent with his inability to deny what he did in a normal and appropriate way - which is consistent with him being guilty.

Regarding the showering issue: I'm a member of the YMCA. There is an adult bathroom and changing room. And there's one for children. They do a good job keeping them separate. One guy brought his kid into the adult room once. It did not go over well.

Showing with children that are not your children is not acceptable. I don't think there's a gray area there.

Yeah, this dumbass has completely lost his marbles.

What the last clinging apologists need to realize is that their best hope of any sort of... well... whatever can be salvaged of this is for the whole truth to come out, clearly and painfully... it already looks as bad as fucking possible.

I know various organizations/businesses, etc have very clear policies that are designed to keep people from putting themselves in a bad situations. The Boy Scouts, for example require that at least 2 adults attend any function/outing/trip - regardless of how many scouts are there. This is for the safety of both the children and the adults on the trip.

As a guy who had a lot of respect as the DC of very successful (and wealthy) football program, you would think he would be smarter than to put himself into a position where his actions could be misinterpreted - or used against him in a law suit.

.... this is assuming Jer is innocent of any wrongdoing, of course.

Yes there is but it is but it is also not directly comparable.

Maybe in Anderson's mind they are.

But,we probably would thankfully not be having this wonderful discussion, you know, but for Sandusky forcibly sodomizing kids in there too.

*ugh*

Here's the thing: the lines are beginning to blur for me. I can no longer tell if these people are disgusting monsters that only care about Sandusky getting off (no pun intended) to clear Dear Leader's name...or, is central Pennsylvania seriously so [censored]ing inbred and backwards that they honestly don't see a problem with any of this. I'm not entirely sure which makes me hate them more. At this point, I'd like to see the entire region napalmed. If you're against that idea, maybe at least administer doses of radiation sufficient enough to prevent reproduction.
