Disgraced Former Penn State DC Jerry Sandusky (convicted child molester)

Just my two cents. ESPN controls sports. They started the witch hunt for Joe's job the last couple days and weren't going to stop until they had it. The same happened with Tressel. ESPN is the big bad wolf that seems to often go unnoticed. They are the world wide leader in selective manipulative journalism. The sooner people realize this the sooner people with take their reporting with a grain of salt. By no means should Joe have been fired. If more comes to light and he had more knowledge or whatever then, yeah but as of what I know right now it's ridiculous.

I've been known to be very critical of ESPN, and certainly of their treatment of things related to tOSU. While ESPN may have no problem airing the dirty laundry at Penn State since they're in the B1G, I don't believe they are in any way responsible for the action taken by the Board of Trustees last night.

Some of their coverage last night was laughable, and I'm not fond of them, but trying to blame them for anything that has happened at Penn State is very misguided.

Yeah okay....they're adults whether you want to be oblivious to it or not. Now do most act like adults? No.

Given the development in the prefontal cortex that does not occur until later in the 20's a strong medical argument can be made that in regards to decision making...no they are not.

Read the report. Get informed. Post again after you've reviewed and changed your stance. :)

Keep the change.

By every means Joe Paterno had to be fired. There was absolutely no alternative. If the man had a single shred of integrity he would have stepped down personally at one of the many opportunities he was provided to do so.

And that's the best part about Joe Pa's involvement. He planned to retire at the end of the season. Meaning he wanted to go out on his terms instead of being labeled as "fired". He doesn't have any integrity. He's put Penn State football above this disaster for years. If he cared about what was going on, we wouldn't be at this point, because this could/SHOULD have been resolved years ago.

my thoughts on McQueary ....

I think they cut him some slack because he was still a student at that time. Graduate Assistants are still students. He should have done more, but he was just a 20 seomthing year old student assistant. Plus, it looks bad to fire the whistleblower.

What looks worse than firing a so-called whistleblower is when a 28 year old former football player leaves a 10 year old boy to be raped by a 60 year old man, rather than intervening on behalf of the child. And he stopped blowing his whistle the next day.

He should be fired.

You know...let's be real.

Joe Pa probably hasn't coached a game in fifteen years.

There's a popular misconception that head coaches aren't really coaching unless they are wearing a headset and calling the plays. That perception only came about in the last 20 years or so.

Go back a few decades and coaches were more like CEOs. They made decisions on strategy during the games, and called an occasional important play, but their assistants were far more active on a play by play basis. Joe Pa came from that generation, as did Bobby Bowden. To think they were coaching so much differently in their later years than they did when they were younger is probably not an accurate assumption.

ESPN has earned plenty of criticism but this is just a rambling pile of emotional blather. I would also bet $1000 you haven't read any of the grand jury testimony, either. Loosen up the tinfoil hat and learn some facts of the case.

Presser on right now.

Tom Bradley stated that McQuery will be coaching at the game. It's a gametime decision on if he'll be in the box or on the sideline.

I'm startin' to wonder who else McQueary has walked in on in a shower. Why is he teflon?
Crap! They might as well have kept JoePa, then. Disgusting.

note: it's easy to remember the correct spelling: just change the "s" to an "r" in queasy.

Was about to hit submit when the new coach said this:
:slappy: "Let's show them what Penn State is all about." :slappy:

Oh, don't bother Honey, we've got it. Believe me. We already know.

Just to clarify my own stance on this; this is true for any of the five "men." Not just Joe Pa. Anybody should've/could've came forward at any point in the last nine years, but they didn't.

Also to be clear, to me at least, PSU looks like hypocrites by firing Joe Pa and allowing McQuery to coach another game. If anything, McQuery is more at fault than Joe Pa and should've been fired first. Joe Pa arguably should've been the last to go after Schultz, Curley, Spanier, and McQuery.
