So much for unbiased media. :roll1:

"Joe Paterno is no longer the head football coach, effective immediately."

"NO! NO! WHAT?"

"Let me repeat for those that are hard of hearing. We even have a message here for the hearing impaired. Joseph V Paterno ain't the football coach any more."

I hinted at this yesterday. One thing we've learned about pedophiles is that they will somehow find each other and create underground associations for the purposes of finding children to prey upon, and to evade law enforcement. This would not shock me at all if true. In fact, any time I hear of a pedophile being caught, especially if that pedophile is in a position of prominence or wealth, one of the first things that needs to be investigated are his associations with others.

The possibility of wealthy bastards being involved in sexual crimes against the Second Mile kids makes me think that the 2005 disappearance of Centre County DA Ray Gricar may have been related to these crimes.

I thought it was somewhat of a stretch to think that Gricar went missing because of Sandusky's individual crimes against children. But if some rich, sick bastards were involved, and Gricar caught wind of that, it's a more likely possibility that his investigation of sex crimes against Second Mile kids was the reason for his disappearance.

I doubt that his disappearance had anything to do with the Sandusky case. At the time of his disappearance, he was getting ready to prosecute the largest heroin ring in U.S. history. An Assistant U.S. Attorney disappeared under similar circumstances in 2003 while investigating heroin suppliers from the same area.

For that matter, how would a Grad Assistant get a closed-door meeting with the Penn State Athletic Director and another "senior administrator" without the reasons for that meeting being known? I can't imagine every GA who wants to talk with the AD gets face time in a closed-door meeting.

This wasn't just any GA. This was a GA who grew up in State College, who was childhood friends with Sandusky's kids, who was a QB for Penn State before his GA job, and whose father, John McQueary was friends with Sandusky. I figure he could get a meeting if he asked for one.

Why bring that up. The connection with the Sandusky case makes a better story.

my thoughts on McQueary ....

I think they cut him some slack because he was still a student at that time. Graduate Assistants are still students. He should have done more, but he was just a 20 seomthing year old student assistant. Plus, it looks bad to fire the whistleblower.

Doesn't matter - all those coaches are living on borrowed time right now. So, in essence, he fired himself when he came forward.

So it seems that Paterno wants to tell "his" side of the story.

What are the odds he ends up saying something that earns himself a nice perjury charge as well?

The thing that keeps bugging me is the broad discrepancy between what McQueary testified he witnessed and the much milder description that Paterno says he was given. They brought perjury charges against two others. How can you have clearly 180-degree contradictory testimony from two people, and not have at least one of them also facing perjury charges?

If it's McQueary's testimony that he saw one thing but reported a radically different event, why isn't he facing some other action?

There seems to be a gap in that document, and I'm confused by it. Did I miss something?

he was a 28 year old grad assistant, not some typical 22 year old dunce on campus.

My guess is that the prosecution needs to rely on both as witnesses so is treading carefully.

Also what Joe Pa has publicly over the past couple of days doesn't appear to jive with what HE testified to under oath so it's likely there was no reason to charge him with perjury. But if he switches to a new 'He didn't tell me anything' story and sticks with it when he is called on the stand during the trial...he just may be toast.
