Diet-Fitness-General Wellness Your Thoughts?

I've been dealing with some tender elbows lately, perhaps tendonitis? I bought an elbow brace, it helps. When I really notice them is when I'm doing something that stresses them, I almost get a burning sensation.

My response to your initial situation was on page 50. If you're doing certain tricep exercises especially you can put unnecessary stress on your elbows when done in-correctly.

I'd be willing to bet a lot that those things have something to do with it.

I was a huge skullcrusher guy for years. They added size to my triceps better then most movements. I even had some steel brackets made to hold my chains on my curl bar. The chains were brutal and eventually i developed some massive pain in both elbows.

I worked out at a college gym and can remember one time in particular that it finally hit me that enough was enough. I was doing some heavy squats out of the power rack and the elbow pain was so fierce that I actually sat down and had tears coming out of my eyes.

There is no single movement in weightlifting/bodybuilding or whatever that is worth fucking yourself up for. Oddly enough i'd never feel elbow pain during rack presses (which used an extreme amount of weight in comparison to the skullcrushers).

I would suggest avoiding any movement that is causing the stress to the elbows. There are always solid alternatives that will yield results without messing stuff up.

EDIT:
As far as elbow support goes I think you get what you pay for. If you go out to wally world and buy some cheap brand you won't feel the same support as you will from Rehband"s. I have a set of inzer's as well, but they are pretty gimmicky imo. They give you a false sense of security whereas the rehband's feel more natural, but are still extremely supportive.

Yes, I need to go out and get some quality support bands. I wore an ace bandaid today and it helped. I've also figured out which exercises are putting the most stress on my elbows and i'm going to cut them out.

Not sure if covered in this thread or not. Read "Wheat Belly" last May. Cut out wheat and began to lose weight, but made the mistake of buying "gluten free" products. Weight loss stalled. Dumped those and all grain in October. Starting weight was 203. Down to 176. I had horrible sleep apnia- gone. High blood pressure- Lisinopril in the AM, Metoprolol in the PM. High BP is gone, and I no longer need to take the medicine. Lost 4 notches on the belt. It's pretty much a paleo diet, with focus on foods that don't drive blood sugar through the roof. Sadly, I don't drink beer anymore- can't hack the bloating. I do make up for it in wine. Still smoke a pack a day. I use a short workout regimen (15 minutes) 6 days a week using a Bayou Fitness DLX 3 (Been using that religously for 1 year). Feeling pretty damn good for 55. For what it's worth.

I ate like shit yesterday during the Super Bowl for the first time since I started my diet (1/22).. felt like I was going to vomit. I was sad and happy at the same time.

Still sticking with green beans/broccoli, eggs, beef/fish/chicken in some combination for most of my meals. Walnuts for snacks. Only water. It's working so far. I don't know how much I weighed when I started the diet, but I have noticed a drop.

Sundays Funday. Had some subway. Couple beers.
Few wings.

Once you continue on for a few more weeks, you'll find
That your eating on the "off" day(s) becomes healthier than
Usual. That isn't to say you won't still have pizza. But you won't
Gorge the whole pie then wash it down with a 6 pack.

This, not that you don't want to, but you also won't be able to. I usually would eat 3/4 to an entire large from Papa Johns. We got a large for the Super Bowl. I was only able to have 3 pieces before I was stuffed. It felt great to eat pizza, felt even better that I only had a few pieces

I went to my favorite spot for the Superbowl and indulged in spinach lobster queso dip, potato skins and a double cheese burger with steak fries, washed down with 4 draft beers. I felt sick afterward.

Anybody ever have wrist problems doing skullcrushers? I tweaked mine a few days ago and [censored]ed it off again doing shoulder presses with dumbbells. I'm taking a week off from any lifting, hopefully my wrist stops bothering me by next week.

My "cheat days" are a whole lot more healthier now as well.

Could be anything from poor form (no offense) to bad grip selection to perhaps too much weight. If you don't have wrist wrap gloves I'd suggest buying them rather quickly.

I think/know my form is bad. I'm going to lay off the Skull Crushers for a while. Nothing else really bothers my wrist like those do. I've also bought some wrist straps (minus the glove part).

Totally forgot about checking this thread again. My bad.

Not to ramble on with questions, but during (or after) what particular workouts are you experiencing the most pain?

Keep in mind, locking your elbows or knee's during your biggest exercises (Squats & Bench) are not a good idea. Much like when you see dummies at the gym doing 225lb shrugs but rolling their shoulders back and then in reverse. Terrible, terrible idea.
Sorry, totally missed this. I work out with dumbbells and I think the problem is that I've reached the weight that for at least two exercises (military press and bench) rolling the weights into starting position is what did it. I didn't realize how much pressure it was putting on my elbows. Once I get them into position I'm fine though. Also bent over rows (I think they're called). I noticed some burning in my elbows afterward. I'm going to rest for about a week or two, stick to pushups and core exercises, squats and see what happens.

You have to watch your wrist movement and grip
Placement. You can do more damage over time than most
Are aware of.

Anyway. Had to take a small drive this weekend. Our HS
Alumni football team had a meeting, we have 3 games this year.
I missed all of last season living in DC. I'm kind of excited to be back.
I was offered either the starting CB or FS spot depending
On which I'd prefer. Decided to take safety. This means I'm going to have to kick Up my workouts a notch, again. I'm right around 180 and I'm in the gym Usually 4 days a week because of work and winter laziness. So I
Ordered some monohydrate, a reasonable gainer and Karbolyn.
Heaviest I've ever been was 192. I'm shooting for 190 in the next
4 weeks while focusing on strength training. So now I've gotta bust ass and do all the shit I hate doing... Squats, deadlifts and cleans.
