Devin Gardner (official thread)

I hate to break it to you, but the Buckeye's are over rated also.

Guiton did a great job coming in off the bench, will see what happens when he gets the start and a DC schemes to stop him.

It's pretty easy to argue a team is "over rated" if they are 1 or 2 (or even top 5) in the poles because you surely can't be much under rated. That being said tOSU is appropriately rated and barring a rediulous number of injuries or a few key injuries tOSU will surely end up in the top 5 at worst. Same cannot be said for the scummers.

Devin Gardner had a 161 QB rating last year - that is arguably pretty good...

But it was from playing Minnesota, Iowa, and Northwestern, as well as OSU and South Carolina.

He did not do well against either of the latter teams. 50% completion rating, 4TD, 2INT.

I'm sure he'll be one of the better QBs in the Big Ten this year - but below Braxton, Martinez, and Colter.

True, but look at the offense he had around him, MI ran some hybrid spread/wildcat/west coast schemes that were just awful at times.

Braxton is the most talented QB in the Big Ten, IMO he's better than Johnny M from Texas AM, he has more upside. I am not stating Devin will be the best QB in the big ten. He'll be a lot better in Borges system in the WC offense.

Michigan's OL was terrible last year, I expect OL to be approved which makes all the difference in the world.

Don't forget about TE, a good TE makes all the difference in WC offense and MI has some very good ones.

Kenny G comes in and makes everyone wonder why he's sitting on the bench.

How many QB's has that been said about who are backups? Then they get their shot at starter and bomb. I am not saying he would bomb, but until you are actually the starter who knows what they will do. Pressure does funny things to people.

What makes the Braxton great is everyone knows in the Stadium what he is going to do. The opposing DC knows what he's going to do and he still makes them look silly.

Can Devin get it done being the guy? I have no idea what he'll do. He has a lot of talent and I am excited to see what he can do.

For your sake you better hope they change the offense a lot. I literally cannot remember 1 thing Gardner did from The Game last year that was noteworthy. Definitely nothing that earns him this hype that Michigan fans have for him all of a sudden. I haven't gotten to the BTN's replay of that game yet, so I'll be watching when I do. I remember any spurts of offense were from the midget and from penalties. I distinctly remember him throwing a terrible pass later in the game, getting bailed out by a PI call, then getting up and celebrating like he did something. Probably because it was just something different from our fullback (yeah) running over him.

Does he, though?

Is there a threat at RB in the UM stable? If not, I think Hoke is in for another rough year. Gardner is an OK QB that lacks the accuracy for a traditional pro-style offense, and to compensate for that you need a solid ground game. I don't see UM having that this year.

Ohio State has a very experienced offensive line and many weapons across the board on offense. Many we haven't seen. TTUN does not have those.
