Devin Gardner (official thread)

Devin Gardner: Michigan not inferior to any team, will beat Ohio State

Angelique S. Chengelis
The Detroit News

Michigan quarterback Devin Gardner didn't mince words when asked for one word to describe how he feels about the upcoming season for the Wolverines.

"Ecstatic," Gardner said Monday on the "Huge Show" on WBBL 107.3 FM. "That's the one word I can think of that describes this season and how I feel about it."

Bill Simonson, host of the Huge Show, asked Gardner if Michigan is a championship-caliber team that can beat Ohio State in Michigan Stadium this November.

"We always have room for improvement, but this is definitely a championship-caliber football team that will win in the Big House against Ohio State," Gardner said. "We don't feel we're inferior to anyone in the country, and we're going to give it our all."

Eh....I'd expect a player to say stuff like that....at least he prefaced it with a "there's always room for improvement" and the rest of just bluster, but he's 22. I'll cut him some slack there.

Now if we get into the season and scUM is say 7-4 going into the game against a 11-0 Ohio State team I may have a slightly different take on it.

Confidence or not you don't say that type of thing. You lead by example and you express feelings like that within the confines of the locker room and the practice field.

This does nothing but open the team up for ridicule and embarrassment.

I'd say the same thing if Braxton Miller had made that statement in an interview with the Dispatch.

So you wouldn't like it if Brax said they expected to win each game? You wanna hear say "nah we have no shot"

All he said was we will beat osu. . I expect him to think like that and say it.. Not like he insulted osu

I could argue Michigan is the 4th/5th best program in the B10 in the last 5 years. I guess hype and talk is what they have to cling onto. Little brother has beaten them 4 of 6 times under Dantonio and we have owned them for over a decade. I think it's time to prove it on the field thought...8-5 is impressing no one.
