Derrick "LLL" Green (RB ttun transfer to TCU)

He plans to announce after NLOID on his birthday in mid-February 2013.

I don't see him being part of the class if that happens. This class could be as small as 15-16 kids, and I don't think a lot of those spots will be open going into January. Especially with the number of backs we are targeting. Does Urban hold off on taking verbals from other talented kids for Green? I don't know. If a couple speedy, super athletic kids want in, it's hard to see UFM saying no.

Not that it matters because I think Derrick ends up deciding well before mid-Feb 2013, but the class, if I'm not mistaken, is already at 15 or so. (14 seniors + 1 spot left from last year's class). That means the class will have at least 20+, imo. There's still a lot of attrition to work itself out this offseason and then the normal 3 or so for next year.

With how much the former staff targeted him and the fact that the new staff seems to be making him a target as well, I think there will be room/time for Derrick.

It will easily be over 20.

15 seniors + the Diggs spot + year of attrition + a # of 4th year juniors who may not be back for a 5th year. Kids aren't being forced out but it's definitely boot camp going on.

If Meyer likes Green enough he'll wait, if not then they'll go another route.

If we do get up around 20+, I can definitely see Meyer waiting a little longer for Green. He's ridiculously talented and is still learning the position. My favorite back in this class. I hope tou're right about him not waiting.

I don't see there being any chance of Urban holding a spot for him if he wants to wait that long, unless we strike out on all the other RB's we've offered so far. Derrick is a really good running back in a group of really good running backs that we're offering. It's not like he's Terrelle Pryor or Jadeveon Clowney, where he is so far and away the best thing in his class that we'll do whatever it takes to get him.

And just to try and gain some perspective here, we know the old regime was very high on Derrick, but that doesn't mean he's Urban's #1 guy. Derrick says OSU is recruiting him the hardest, but don't take that to mean the inverse - that he is the guy OSU is recruiting the hardest. For all we know, he could be #5 on Urban's RB list. I'm not saying he is or isn't, I'm just saying we shouldn't assume he's the "I'll do anything to get him" guy on Urban's list.

Urban has no problem waiting on kids, half his commits at Florida came from December on every year.

His decision date isn't a major factor, we're not in the lets make sure we fill our quota numbers so we don't get left out to dry days any more. They want the best available period and will wait. If they were filling quotas they would have taken Davonte Neal and Alex Kozan/Nick Davidson but instead they went for bigger fish.

The kid is 5'11 215 absolutely ripped and runs a legit sub 4.4. This is after he weighed 270 2 years ago and a workout freak, think you have to take him. Not a kid I'd pass over.

Yeah, he was 1st a Dtackle. He has only played RB for a few years (and still won RB MVP at the OSU camp over Ball and Dunn), which is phenomenal if you think about it. This kids potential is through the roof, which is why I think he'll be better than Ty Isaac. He is no where close to peaking as of now

A super athlete and combine warrior, guys like him dont grow on trees and if he wants to wait till feburary next year I think OSU should definitely save a spot.

Right now, Coach Meyer doesn't seem to be in the mood to wait on kids. He's got an offense to install and a program to redeem, and I doubt that he wants to waste a ton of time chasing recruits. And the kids seem to be lining up to commit, so I doubt that we'll see a lot of December verbals this year.

Ohio State is also heavily pursuing Ty Isaac, Ezekiel Elliott, and Deveon Smith, they have "offers" out to a bunch of out-of-state kids, and there will be new names emerging from now until the end of the 2012 season. Unless the staff is convinced that Green is the second coming of Eddie George, then they won't wait until February for him.

The guy loves to recruit, that will never be a problem. Not sure why it matters if it's today or next February, Urban knows if he pushes this kid to be a Buckeye he will be without a single doubt.

Urban is actually pushing some kids with offers to camp first, he's certainly not in Mack Brown mode of filling up the class by April.

People just seem to think since he's a huge Buckeye lean he shouldn't be able to go through the process, nobody is griping about Robert Foster making a late decision.

If Green is plan A he'll stay plan A, not gonna take a plan B kid because he wants to commit now. Not how he works.
