Derrick "LLL" Green (RB ttun transfer to TCU)

Derrick Green and Ty Isaac seem like very similar players to me. Both are big guys that seem to fit the power runner need. If we do in fact pursue two RB's (and not counting Jalin in that mix, since he's apparently going to be more of a pass catcher in the offense) do these two negate each other? Ie, if we get one, would we stop pursuing the other and look for a different kind of runner?

With all due respect, Isaac and Green's game are polar opposites. Isaac is shifty, lanky, has great hands, and hasn't shown much between the tackles. Green is built like a rock, is a no-nonsense runner who hits the hole with a vengeance, and is a between the tackles type of guy who can bounce it if necessary. I think that with all the RB's we've offered, we would take Isaac as an ATH/RB, Green as a pure RB, and one other highly rated guy.

Wad, just asking for gut feeling on Green. Obviously he seems like a guy who will most likely end up a Buckeye, but how long do you think he'll wait before announcing?

I could be wrong, but I heard he wanted to announce on NLOID or sometime later feburary 2013

Would Urban hold a spot for him?

He certainly shows the shiftiness, and gets pretty creative when a play breaks down to turn it into a positive play, but a great many of his runs were straight through the line. Though he rarely seemed to meet any resistance (what's that about anyway? It was like the Red Sea was parting on every play) he was still barreling straight ahead each time.

That is moreso what I mean, there are few plays where you couldn't drive a MAC truck through the hole, so it is difficult to gauge. Regardless, I see Isaac as a shift, all-purpose back and Green as a power back with speed to burn.

I really hope we pick up Green. Always good to see a Virginian in the Scarlet & Gray. But I'm kind of confused as to why we seem to be pursuing so many RB's.

Well we just lost berry before this year, and hall at the end. And we'll only be left with Smith and hydrogen. And smith hasn't really shown us much in limited time. So the safe bet would be for urban to go after more rbs, especially ones he knows can fit his system. Better to have rb depth, since guys get injured at inopportune times. Several years ago we went 5 deep, and lost berry, hyde, herron, smith was redshirted, and we only had hall and I believe it was jermil martin. Same thing happened to usc a few years ago when they were stocked at rb too. They went from having 5 healthy guys to just 1 in a few weeks time.

Isaac would be the biggest all purpose back ever! Lol

Urban offering a kid doesn't mean he's pursuing them. An offer is pretty much just his way of saying hello to the national kids.

Gotta wait to see who visits to see which kids we're seriously after. Even then it's still tricky with Urban as he'll have guys like Diamond and Neal that they'll just not feel and stop recruiting. Where our insiders come into play.

Green says Ohio State is recruiting him the hardest so assume he's a top priority which makes sense. To me he's a high 4* player with a 5* work ethic that will only get better. Only been playing RB for 2 years, his best days are ahead of him.
