I deliver pizza on the side
Stx, if you haven't checked with your insurance company, be careful. I know GEICO wouldn't insure (or would dump) anyone who had delivery use on their vehicle, or if that wasn't legal in a particular state, bump the policy to high-risk at 3+ times the premium rate. Since delivery is usually prohibited by the policy, if they found out about it after an accident (not related to work), they would state the policy had been invalidated and deny the claim.

I tip 20% to good wait staff, the same to bartenders - or more - and three or four bucks for a pizza delivery.

Bad waiters get 10% and maybe a call to the manager after - if it was a business meal at a good place with poor service ( BTW, if bad food or long wait times for an inefficient kitchen it is NEVER to be taken out on the waiter's tip)

To those of you that tip your waiter more for reasons such as the "skill" required for the position, or time spend serving you, thats ridiculous. It requires no more skill to deliver a pizza than to serve a table, and each position spends equal time. I'm not saying I don't tip my waiter more than my delivery driver, but the reason behind this is the waiter gets paid almost nothing hourly while the driver gets slightly more hourly with minimum wage.
If BOTH positions earned the same hourly pay, you tip your driver more. Look at it this way, the driver took at least as much time driving to your house and putting the finishing touches on your order (Boxing, sauces, transport, etc) as a waiter spends serving you. You may spend an hour eating in a restaurant, but during that time a waiter is also serving other customers. On average, each position spends 20-30 minutes just on your order.
So, why should the driver get paid more if there wasn't a difference in hourly pay? It costs nothing out of the waiters pocket to bring you food, it costs the delivery driver gas, not to mention the daily wear on the car. Our drivers were going through a set of tires every 1-2 years, depending on # of hours worked. Then of course theres an oil change once a month. This doesn't even cover parts failing. Most drivers can't afford the higher insurance either, so usually extra care is required.
I've served briefly as a waiter before and numerous years as a delivery driver while in college. I certainly tip my waiter more because of the difference in hourly wage, but to say that you tip your waiter more because of skill or time spent serving you is stupid. The driver spends just as much and it COSTS him to bring food to your lazy ass. Tip him $2-3 though and he'll be happy.

It's not my fault that waiters get paid 2 bucks and hour. That's between the waiter, the restaurant, and the government. I don't take into account the person's salary when I tip them. What does a waiter make at a high end restaurant? Does that mean they deserve less tip than the waiter at Applebee's?

That's wack. If a large portion of the person's wage is set up to come from tips, how the hell can you justify not tipping them because That's between the waiter, the restaurant, and the government? They get the low hourly precisely because they assumed to be getting tips - from normal diners following normal rules of dining.
