It is simply astounding how obtuse some state penn fans are...

"It wasn't his job" is a phrase destined to be engraved on a marble plaque, inducted beside "I was just following orders" in

Agreed. From November 8th, in the Sandusky thread:

The Penn State administrators seem to be using an interesting defense strategy.

I am naming it the "Inverted Nazi Defense":

"I told my superior, and that's all I had to do."

Instead of saying they were just following orders, they just passed the buck up the chain of command, thinking that doing so was adequate, regardless of any moral or ethical responsibility.

When all else fails, tell the truth.

PATERNO: I didn't press for details on Sandusky

Former Penn State football coach Joe Paterno told a grand jury earlier this year that he was told his ex-assistant Jerry Sandusky had done something of "a sexual nature" with a boy in 2002.Paterno's testimony was read into the record Friday during a court hearing for two Penn State administrators. The pair are accused of lying to a grand jury.
Earlier Friday, Penn State assistant football coach Mike McQueary said he believed he saw Sandusky sexually molesting a boy on campus. He also says he later told Paterno and administrators Tim Curley and Gary Schultz about it.
Paterno says he was told Sandusky had done something inappropriate with a child but that he didn't press McQueary for details because McQueary was very upset.

So McQueary didn't want to go into graphic detail out of 'respect' for Joe Paterno.

And JoePa "didn't press McQueary for details because McQueary was very upset".

It's great that they were so concerned about each other's feelings, and not wanting to get the other guy 'upset'.

But neither one of them seemed to give a rat's ass about trying to stop kids from getting sexually abused.

Those pathetically misplaced sensibilities make both of them fully deserving of all the scorn they have received, even though neither one of them will likely be charged with a crime.

How thoughtful.

I assume first thing Monday, he called the cops. Oh.. wait... no .. he didn't.
after the saturday morning meeting with mcqueary, paterno waited until sunday morning to contact curley. joe was thoughtful enough to give everyone but the victim an enjoyable saturday.

from paterno's testimony:

"I ordinarily would have called people right away, but it was Saturday morning and I didn't want to interfere with people's weekend."

Saturday fucking morning?! Didn't want to interfere with the PD's day off?! No arrests on Saturdays, State College tradition.
