In response to a post questioning their "cancer cure":
The headline for the article cited as evidence that PUState had indeed cured cancer follows.
Can anybody on BP pick out the operative word in the headline? (Hint provided, in case any PUStaters drop in.)
"Penn State Research
May Show Promising Cancer Cure"
A different article:
http://www.pennlive.com/editorials/index.ssf/2011/11/cure_for_cancer_funding_must_b.html
The article includes this relevant statement:
...potential human trials are years away. The American Cancer Society, which funds cancer research, estimates it takes 10 to 12 years to fully develop a drug or therapy...
I have a theory as to why the PUSers are so confused by this information. It has to do with some geographically localized genetic defect that distorts their perception of time...like understanding the difference between
now and
later.
For example, they cannot grasp the difference between promptly picking up a telephone and dialing 911 to report a pedophile vs. doing nothing about it for a decade or more.
They are also apparently confused by the distinction between making some partial advance toward potentially accomplishing a goal, and actually achieving it. For example, the difference between having one or two piddling conversations about said pedophile and then forgetting about it vs. ceaselessly doing everything in your power to ensure that he never harms another child, beginning the moment you are informed about him.
We shouldn't feel too sorry for them, though. Where Nature diminishes an ability in one area, it compensates by enhancing a talent in another. What PedStaters lack in language comprehension, they make up for in musical skill.
