Decanonized Mythologized Disgraced Ped State Monster Coach Joe Paterno (Zombie Icon)

He really needs to stop talking about the victims. Every time he tell us to pray for the victims I wonder what his concerns were about the victims were back on 1998 when he knew his friend was a molesting young boys, at that time victim 6. He wasn't too concerned about any possible victims 7, 8, 9....

Am I missing something here? Not standing up for the guy, just wondering where we all got the notion that he knew about this? Link?
From the court documents, it sounds like Mcquery never told JoePa what happened, only that he saw something very disturbing. Joe reported that. The administration's responsibility was to investigate and they did. They had all of the facts. They swept it under the rug. Not Joe Pa. They deserve everything coming towards them.

Joe Pa should have followed up and made sure that something was eventually done. I seriously doubt Mcquery generalized what happened as in Joe Pa's own words, Mcquery was distraught telling Joe the information. I think he was protecting his friend and told those that he (Joe Pa) knew would keep it quiet...because that's in fact what they did.

Quote (pretty much) from ESPN student interview:

"He may not have done the morally right thing.. but.."

Shut up. The morally right thing to do is the only thing to do. To do otherwise is wrong, clearly.

I liked when they asked the one actual human being in the crowd if he was afraid after saying what he said and he was like "Yeah, lol, you'd be stupid not to be".

Here is a good timeline of events. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/11/09/penn-state-scandal-timeline-jerry-sandusky_n_1084204.html

Here is the grand jury report. http://cbschicago.files.wordpress.com/2011/11/sandusky-grand-jury-presentment.pdf

Sandusky was investigated in 1989 for showering with an 11 year old boy. In 1999 Sandusky "retires". Do you think the Paterno did not know about the investigation. If he did, then Paterno knew Sandusky had issues with young boys.

http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/news?slug=dw-wetzel_paterno_statement_raises_more_questions110611
Paterno acknowledged McQueary told him of ?an incident in the shower of our locker room? involving Sandusky and that he believed McQueary clearly ?saw something inappropriate involving Mr. Sandusky.?

So Paterno knows that Sandusky was investigated before for "inappropriate" activity. McQueary tells him what happened in the shower. Did McQueary told him everything in detail. The grand jury report says McQueary "reported what he had seen" to Paterno. Later the grand jury found McQueary's testimony to be "extremely credible". Paterno said
?It was obvious that the witness was distraught over what he saw, but he at no time related to me the very specific actions contained in the Grand Jury report. Regardless, it was clear that the witness saw something inappropriate involving Mr. Sandusky. As Coach Sandusky was retired from our coaching staff at that time, I referred the matter to university administrators.
Who do you believe?

There's no reason for anyone to stop talking about the victims. Their pain and suffering need to be the focus for everyone IMO.

JoePa needs to stop talking about the victims. He should have been talking about the victims back in 1989. Was he talking about the victims last year, last month? It is like the criminal remorseful when brought in front of the judge.

Joe Pa did this to himself..the one question I want answered in 1998 your right-hand man was investigated for abuse by the PSU police and You are telling the world that you the most powerful man on campus and Sandusky's Boss knew nothing of this investigation and in 2002 you just reported this to the AD nothing more? Joe why would you aide the cover up?

Sorry, but although his failure to do the right thing in the past is deplorable (yes, I've been persuaded he knew enough that he should have gone to the police, since the sniveling little McQueary shit did not), he hasn't lost his right to remind people of the victims' suffering. Nor has anyone.

We all need IMO to focus our attention on how to prevent future abuse and how best to support victims of abuse, since Paterno is now history. Throwing more dung on the heap does no good whatever.

That'd be all good and stuff, but when he says "The victims or whatever they want to say", it doesn't come across as real sympathetic.
