NFL Draft notes: Jake Long jabbed by Vernon Gholston

NEW YORK -- Jake Long may be the top dog in this year's NFL Draft, but the University of Michigan tackle took a good-natured shot from former Ohio State rival Vernon Gholston at Friday's draft preview before several hundred fans at the World Financial Center.
It started out as a compliment, as emcee Jamie Dukes of the NFL Network asked Gholston what it was like to play against Long.
"Well, he's the premier tackle in this draft and in college football," said Gholston, a defensive end who had the only sack given up by Long last season. "It's a big matchup, and I knew I had to bring my 'A' game and get a win for Ohio State ... which we did."
"Oh," prodded Dukes, "so you not only got the sack, you guys got the win?"
"Yes sir. Four times in a row."
"How many times?" Dukes fairly hollered into the mic.
"Four."
Long could only stand on the stage, smile and think about rematches on the professional field down the road.
MICHIGAN BUCKEYE: Gholston, a Detroit native, also tried to explain why he went to OSU.
"I was just going to place where I felt I could maximize my opportunities," he said.
"That's the biggest thing I would recommend to high school players coming into college. You have places where you would love to play, but go where you can maximize your opportunity and have success."
