He's more of a potential top-5/10 guy than a lock for such...Buckin' A;1095405; said:I know, but that doesn't mean it's the smartest move. If you're projected top 5 or even top 10...you have nothing to gain and a lot to lose.

I don't think he will be anywhere near the record if he does attempt it, remember that Kudla tied it with 45 reps.TS10HTW;1095815; said:the 225lb bench press record and the 40 would be two reasons...he's probably got 25+ reps in him and a 4.6 to boot.
Well, someone on the outside of the situation can only speculate...therefore I'll do exactly that. It seems plausible that Gholston right now is a tenuous top 10 (or top 5, pick your poison) selection, and that he and his camp feel that his measurables will most likely get him more firmly entrenched in that range. In other words, his raw athletic capacity quite possibly outstrips his on-field production (even though the latter is appreciable), and thus it will benefit him to show his wares on the scales, on the track, and in the weight room.Buckin' A;1095349; said:Not sure why Big Vern is going to work out at the combine since he's pretty much a lock to go top 10.

However, with an incredible combine, of which he is certainly capable, he could move himself up as high as number 2. The difference in dollars for that kind of a jump is worth the minor risk of injury. Gholston is a workout warrior, he will excel at the combine.
