DE Sam Hubbard (All B1G, National Champion, Cincinnati Bengals)

I'm still in touch with coaches at Moe. There will always be a pull of some level for ND in a Catholic school, BUT Kelly's departure from UC, his demeanor on the sidelines, his habit of throwing players under the bus, have had a tempering impact on the Irish love fest. For openers, Elder grad and Notre Dame tight end, Kyle Rudolph, opted into the draft rather than play for Kelly and that circulated quickly at Moe. Alex Hendrix was going to go to ND no matter the coach. That it never worked out - and Kelly going purple on the kid on TV - have also lessened the appeal.

I also think that Urban came to the job thinking specifically about improving Cincinnati recruiting, Coombs and the spring game being a part of that, and the relationship between this town and Ohio State. All of that was also a shot across the bow of two programs, Michigan and Notre Dame, asserting a new ownership of SW Ohio.

THREE POTENTIAL BREAKOUT PLAYERS FOR OHIO STATE'S 2015 SEASON

SAM HUBBARD
Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer sang Hubbard’s praises throughout all of last season as the talented freshman sat through a redshirt year in which the coaching staff tried to figure out his correct position for the Buckeyes.

After a bit of transformation, Hubbard finally found a home at defensive end. There’s plenty of playing time there for the taking, as well, at the spot opposite All-American Joey Bosa. Hubbard figures to be in a mix to rotate at defensive end with Tyquan Lewis and Jalyn Holmes, but the 6-foot-5, 265-pound Cincinnati native could be the most physically gifted of the bunch.

Hubbard has yet to play a snap in a game for Ohio State, but still has plenty of hype. If he lives up to that, he could be one of the stars of the Buckeyes’ loaded defense in just his first season.

If that comes to fruition...dear lord. I think Sam has the potential, especially after he has hit the weight room so hard. Curious to see how they rotate Same and Jalyn, as I think both are too good to keep on the sideline for too long. Wouldn't be surprised to see them slide Bosa down occasionally to get Sam and Jalyn on the field at the same time.
