DE Sam Hubbard (All B1G, National Champion, Cincinnati Bengals)

I've already stated how ridiculously excited I am to have Sam in this class. But after reading the posts in the best OSU LBs thread, I wonder if Hubbard is a modern day Randy Gradishar? Not saying he has reached that, just his game-style (6'5ish LB with tons of athleticism and range, oversized for his time). In specific, want to call @WoodyWorshiper @NFBuck
Rand Gradishar was a very very good linebacker while at Ohio State and I do not use those three words lightly. If Hubbard can be 85% of Randy Gradishar, we have ourselves a player.

I just strictly mean his playing style, not his talents. Tall, rangy, will fill out to be around in the 250-260 range, great closing speed, and tough as nails.

He is a very interesting prospect. Might have been over-rated as a 5 star but even if he's "just" a 4 star, that's a darn good prospect. Where does he play? He was a linebacker for just one year so he probably has a lot to learn about the position and will get the dreaded "red shirt". He could even be a TE but that possibility may have left with the departure of Mitchell. I'm thinking a "Bobby Carpenter" like player. He ends up as a "viper".

Urban said he will play. Normally I think he would be a more developmental guy that needs to learn the sport better, but we are just in dire need at LB and he has the skill set and size to play immediately. He will play SAM (no pun intended) most likely with his frame. I wouldn't rule Viper out and I like the Carpenter comparison.

Wouldn't surprise me if they try him at both during fall camp at both positions. Obviously more help needed at TE starting in 2015, but if they see something potentially special on the defensive side I can't see them keeping him over there long term.
