DE Robert Rose (Official Thread)

Just wanted to give some kudos to Robert Rose for his play against Navy this past Saturday. He played a solid game, during his limited playing time, and made a couple key plays. Job well done!!

We are going to need our second team guys, like Rose and Denlinger to play stellar ball when they match up against USC's OL. Hopefully our rotation along the DL will wear the mighty trojan OL down a bit by the time the 4th Quarter starts.

He looked solid saturday. I don't know what his weight situation is but he did look quicker off the edge compared to last year. He made a couple crucial plays in the second half. In previous games he always seemed to be right there but wasn't getting tackles, he's tracking ball carriers and reading plays very well. Just seems to be in better position and the stat book is starting to reflect it. Keep up the good work Rob.

I think it was just a mistake on the coaching staff to try and bulk him up and play him inside as a DT. He was so dominate in high school as a DE and tore up the Army All-American game with his size and speed from the outside.

I was always disappointed they tried to make him a DT, and I think he's flourishing in his final season as a pass-rusher and fresh substitute at the DE position.

I know its looking ahead, but if he continues to play well and put up good numbers i.e 6 sacks. I guarantee some teams are going to fall in love with his combine numbers

Agree, and it might not even take good numbers. I think teams will realize that Heyward is just so hard to keep off the field and that's what limits Rose's opportunities at his most natural position.
