DE Robert Rose (Official Thread)

Rob seems to be playing better as of late and becoming the disruptive force we had hoped he'd become. More experience and a return to health can certainly help. He needs to step it up this week and camp out in PSU's backfield and just make an overall nuisance of himself.

Rob Rose missed quite a bit of his sophmore season, any chance for a medical redshirt next year?

No, for these reasons. In 2007, Rose participated in more than 30% of the season, rounded up (4 games or fewer would be allowed). He also played in games after the midpoint of the season, which also rules out a medical redshirt.

The rule is frequently misquoted. The change from 20% to 30% occurred prior to the 2005 season, for all athletes that enrolled after August 1, 2004, so it's now in effect for every Buckeye on the roster.

14.2.6.3.1

a) The competition occurred prior to the completion of the first half of the championship segment of
the institution's declared playing and practice season; and

(b) The student-athlete did not compete in more than three events or 30 percent (whichever number
is greater) of the institution's scheduled or completed events in his or her sport. All competition
(including a scrimmage) against outside participants shall be countable under this limitation in
calculating both the number of events in which the student-athlete participated and the number
of scheduled or completed events during that season (both segments) in the sport.

(Revised: 8/4/05, 1/14/08 applicable to student-athletes who initially enrolled full time in a collegiate institution on or after 8/1/04)

Rose in pain
Defensive lineman Robert Rose appeared to be having a great session in one-on-one drills when suddenly he fell to the ground with an apparent left knee injury after a set-to with Boren. Rose was taken from the field on a cart, but Worthington reported after practice that he had spoken with Rose, who said it was just a minor twist.

Rose is part of the deep cast of experienced defensive linemen and is expected to play at tackle or end, depending on the situation.

I've seen two other reporters who said that Rose was walking OK yesterday, so while he may have been 'limping noticeably'; it wasn't blatantly obvious.

the fact that the coaches/trainers were even letting him walk on it at all is probably a good indication that it isn't serious, otherwise he would have been on crutches or at least in a walking boot or something

walking boot on the knee?

thus the qualifier: or something

the point remains the same, it appears like no precautions were taken regarding the injury such as crutches, a walking boot, a knee brace, or something else, meaning that the injury isn't serious

here's a quote from Ken Gordon
He had a wrap on the knee, but was walking around on it OK.
