DE Robert Rose (Official Thread)

from yesterday's Dispatch print edition (can't find link)....

Rose will not open camp with the team. He has work to do academically in summer classes to maintain eligibility and was told by the coaches to concentrate on that.

The good news is that no other player appears to be in the same predicatment.

"Rose and Small are not even permitted to train with the team at the current time and their scholarship aid has been pulled"

this doesn't sound good.

After Rose's true freshman year, I thought he was gonna be a beast at tOSU, time is rapidly slipping away...

For Ray Small and Rob Rose, that's about as close as you can get to FAIL in real life.

That's not bashing two Buckeyes, that's senior year and you can't practice with the team and your scholarship aid has been pulled? I don't remember Rose being in academic trouble previously, and it seems like your classes should get easier as you get older. Not the time to be slacking when young guns are trying to earn your spot in the lineup.

I still remember the excitement I had when he verballed to us out of Glenville. Like other posters have said, it is a pity to see him just waste away so many opportunities in LIFE. On the same note, I am extremely worried about the lack of senior leaderships this year from this team. We will win games because we have talents. But talent alone doesn't win championships.

OR, maybe I am just paranoid...:ohwell:

Leaders are born, they do not rise in class. Worry not.

A Team will always look to the upper-classmen for leadership first. Happens at every level and happens in the "real world". When there is not strong leadership from the more senior players that is when divisions are more likely to occur as people start following smaller groups or younger natural leaders who might not always be on the same page or have the full big bigger of the direction yet.

Perhabs I am paranoid too but that is piss poor for two Sr's to be in this situation.

Lets hope the seize this learning opportunity and make the best of it and have great years!

DE Rob Rose and WR Ray Small are not among the 103 players expected to report, team spokesperson Shelly Poe said. Both have been reportedly struggling academically. It's likely they need to do well in OSU's second summer session.

The NCAA allows teams to declare a 105-man roster that's good until the first game, then they can expand. Since 103 players are reporting, it means OSU is holding two spots open....for Moeller, Rose, Small or anyone else they wish.

What this means is that if Moeller returns soon, either Small or Rose will have to miss the first game. That's speculative right now, but still worth noting.
