Meet a Buckeye: DE Lawrence Wilson

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH
As one of the more vocal and excitable Buckeyes, defensive end Lawrence Wilson had a tough time sitting out last season because of a broken leg. He cheered his teammates from the sideline, but it's not the same.
Now that he's back, his exuberance already has shown itself, namely in a combination somersault/back flip he executed after nearly snagging a second interception against Ohio University a few weeks ago.
Given this energy level, it's interesting to find out he enjoys the laid-back Caribbean culture:

Q What was the toughest part about not playing last season?
A It didn't really, really hit me until the Washington game (Wilson didn't make the trip). I saw when they were warming up, they put the camera on the D-line and I saw my guys warming up. I was just crushed on the inside because I wanted to be out there with them so bad.
Q Do you feel yourself playing differently this year because you missed a year?
A I definitely think so. I don't take anything for granted at all. I try to have a good practice every day. I don't want to just get through practice -- I want to get better every practice.

Very Sad news- LW has a torn ACL.....He has had a really bad couple of years. This is going to put a load on Thad, Rob Rose, and Heyward.

Link? His college career is turning into a nightmare.. Get well man, we'll see ya next season. Back out there and better than ever! Hopefully the NCAA will grant this kid an extra season, if he chooses.

EDIT: I found this.. http://dottingthei.com/index.php/deja-vu-all-over-again/

I'm not an expert so if someone can answer this it would be nice. From what I've noticed from other athletes with a torn ACL, they are usually out a full year correct? Does that mean he would miss half of next year as well or does it depend on the person and the therapy?

Also, does this mean more playing time for Wells & Williams?

I think the general recovery time for an ACL is something like 6-8 months. That said, everyone's body is different, and some people never really come back from the injury.

Confirmation from ESPN

Buckeyes' Wilson suffers second straight season-ending injury

Ohio State Buckeyes junior defensive end Lawrence Wilson will miss the rest of the season after tearing the ACL in his left knee during last Saturday's win against Purdue.
This marks the second consecutive year Wilson has suffered a season-ending injury. He broke his leg in the 2007 opener against Youngstown State.

"I feel terrible for Lawrence," Ohio State coach Jim Tressel said. "I feel worse for Lawrence than for us. Guys can sprain an ankle and then you don't have them in that game, but for a guy who went through a surgery a year ago to have another surgery now -- unfortunately, that's what happens in these games." Anderson Russell came back pretty fast from his ACL tear. He was back starting the following season. It does depend on the person though.

Best of luck to LW!
