DE Lawrence Wilson (official thread)

You know he was smelling 6 too. Did you see him kick it into second gear when he grabbed it? :) Would've been so cool if he could've gotten into the endzone.

If Gibson (I think it was Gibson) would have finished off the QB instead of just pushing him, it would have been a TD.

I think the reason he's been the best player is he has had more desire than any other player on the team the past two weeks, especially on saturday, unless you count Beanie cheering on the sidelines.

With missing a year, I'm sure he is very hungry, maybe that is why he is playing so hard. Hopefully his effort rubs off on some of the other defenders as "five or six silver bullets" doesn't have the same ring as eleven silver bullets.

Hopefully Beanie takes his weak off and comes back hungry as well.

Good thoughts and all.

I almost did that myself.

Beanie being healthy will matter more than anything else Saturday night.

But we are still in LW87's thread. :wink2:

Gotta love the Buckeye pride!

:oh:

I think Wilson is still not fully back. Or maybe just our expectations that he is a Vern Gholston need to be re-assessed? He is our best D-lineman. But he needs to stay another year and work on his overall game.

Stats of Gholston thru first 4 games of 2007:

Tackles (unassisted/assisted): 7-3
Sacks: 3 for 28 yards
TFL: 3.5
FF: 0
FR: 1
INT: 0
Pass Breakups: 0

Stats of Wilson thru first 4 games of 2008:

Tackles (unassisted/assisted): 6-5
Sacks: 1 for 18 yards
TFL: 2.5
FF: 0

FR: 0
INT: 1
Pass Breakups: 2

Stats are from the Official Team Site. I know stats don't tell the whole story, but I think Wilson has performed well so far. Especially for someone who has been out a full year.

Hopefully he can have some Gholston-like games with sacks and get presure. OSU needs someone on the DL to step up and provide consistent pass rush.

Speaking of pass rush, what happened to Heyward? Is he playing hurt or something?
