DE Jamal Marcus (Official Thread)

Against Indiana Illinois, Spread poor power running teams ..Spence and Marcus at end..Washington and Bosa at tackle a lot

Bennett has probably been our best and most consistent d linemen this year, IMO. I'd like to see Marcus, but he needs to add some ore weight. He should definitely be one of the first 2 d linemen off of the bench. Our rotation and good depth will keep us in the Nc hunt. It's a good problem to have, if we have Marcus coming off of the bench. Can you imagine the face of a LT that has been battling spence, and is getting owned, to then have to face a fresh Jamal who has the speed and quickness to get around a bigger OT

And buckeye4ever: Washington was a man child yesterday against a Ped st team that was supposed to give our d line all sorts of problems. He's every bit one of our most important d linemen. Our depth is looking great. This is the time of year, that many of us were predicting that the young d line would start clicking and performing on a higher level. We had our issues at the beginning of the year, and now the kids seem to get the light to start flickering on and they're playing like a cohesive unit.

Bennet should start over Washington but I like the above on passing downs.

With Clemson's heavy pass oriented offense, I'm predicting that Mr. Marcus will get a chunk of playing time based off of his pass rushing talents. A healthy rotation of spence, diesel, Joey, Jamal, and Steve at DEs should be used consistently to keep Boyd on his back. Our pass rush skills should be able to neutralize or at least help in our DBs slowing down Clemson WRs.

The Orange Bowl is Marcus' time to shine. I have been very impressed with his limited playing time. His skill set is very similar to that of Spence and he constantly gets pressure on the QB. The question is can he hold up against the run game? Really excited for this opportunity for Jamal and hoping he makes the most of it. I'm sure we will see a lot of Miller as well. We should be fine along the DL. It's the possibility of Roby missing the game that concerns me the most. We can't afford our best DB to be out of this game.

IMO he's not quite like spence. Spence is not just a pass rusher, but has been able to stop the run adequately as well. Marcus is a situational player(for now at least) and can't play every down like Spence. I'm sure he'll get a number of reps due to the passing offense of Clemson, but he'll most likely be a backup. I could easily see Washington and Bosa starting at DEs, and miller and Marcus brought in for depth, and only see a slight drop off. On definite passing downs, I wouldn't be surprised of a d line of: bosa, Bennett, Washington and Marcus. Which honestly would be a joy to watch pin their ears back and charge Boyd.
