DE Jamal Marcus (Official Thread)

I think Jamal Marcus might be the guy in the 2012 class with the most upside. He is freaky athletic and has great size. There's a reason Ohio State, Auburn, USC, Georgia, etc, offered him after his senior year season. Florida offered him a lot earlier because, well, they still had Pantoni

I hate to admit but I can never remember this kids name. It's weird because I think he might just be that one kid that becomes a legend around these parts. I just think him and A. Washington are going to tear up opposing offenses in the coming years.

In a year or two I think no one will forget his name. I haven't been this excited about an incoming freshman since Ginn.

Not to mention, you're more excited about Jamal Marcus than Chris "beenie" wells?

I mean id like to see Jamal too, but there r a few more players I was more excited about coming to osu.

Hmmm... not buying it. This guy has excited you more than: Miller, Pryor, Brewster, Eugene Clifford, Mike Adams, JB Shugarts, Hyde, Bell?

Well hear me out. Pryor wasn't suppose to play right away because he had Boeckman as a Senior, Beanie had Pittman returning from a big season as well. Neither of those two were coming in at a position of NEED the same cannot be said for Jamal. While in my opinion the LB's seem to be pretty set for the opener there is no denying that the LB play from last year needs to get better. I hope Sabino and our MLB (name escapes me at the moment) do well but one guy hasn't started a football game yet in college, and the other needs to play better than he did last year. While I think there were certainly others with more "WOW" factor than Jamal I cannot help but get excited for what he can bring to the table to our LB play.

Lofty praise? Absolutely. In my opinion though his size/speed/explosiveness combination is just going to be tough to beat.

Bolded are the only two I think were players that eveyone just couldn't wait to see. Block O and the others were great catches--at the time--but they came no where near the hype of Pryor and Miller, Pryor especially...

I couldn't wait to get Pryor on campus but the whole recruiting thing did put me off a little before he got here. After he got on the field it was pretty awesome seeing him do his thing though.

Jamal Marcus' film is the best high school football film I watched. It's completely from a defensive standpoint and he dominates like no one else I watched in high school. Lots of films show backs and recievers just running over and through other opponents. Marcus' awareness and domination just flipped me out.

I could see how someone might be more excited to see him coming to campus than a lot of those others. They are all offensive players and its time we saw a guy come in on defense and live up to the expectations. I'd put his expectations up there near Big Daddy's for me. After watching Dunbar in the high school playoffs with Bid Daddy, thats very high praise.

The moves on his film where he chases guys down are great but I love how he keeps his feet moving when a ball carrier tries to juke him. I kept thinking how I wished we had him on the field against tsun last year. I just don't see Denard juking around Jamal like he did our other LBs last year.

I remember the excitement for Big Kat. That was about as pumped for a defensive player I've been.

Pryor was the biggest dual threat recruit in history.

Hopefully Marcus surpasses them all in terms of immediate impact but that is some rare air.

BTN aired the Rose Bowl a couple nights ago. It was pretty depressing as I sat there watching Oregon's defense struggle to find an answer for Pryor, and thinking what could have been for '11...

I recall Denard juking Sabino badly, but let's not forget Shazier was injured most of that game, and it wasn't difficult to juke him at that point. Regardless, I agree with your point, and I look forward to seeing what Jamal can do at tOSU.

THESE! Before bukI turned this into the most wanted recruit ever thread, it was about Jamal.

I see TP... and for as good as he might have been...his career left me wanting. Could be a Dave thing. Just wanted more.

I just look at Jamal..the kid that's kind of flying under the radar..I think he'll bring a nasty attitude to the field..and maybe even a chip on his shoulder as well. I feel when it's all said and done..the never ending debate on who "LINEBACKER U" is will have another BUCKEYE to talk about.
